Shit. That is a bummer for sure. Let me know if it turns out to be a POS and maybe I can buy it back from you or trade you the turbo back and some cash for it.

I don't want to trade you a bad tranny or one that's going to need work.

Well...

The transmission grenaded tonight... started stuttering (whole car jerking because it was locking up), so I slowed down to pull over and it siezed... completely.

Finally after I called a so called friend of mine who wouldnt answer, and the I blew up his phone because I figured I was stranded on the side of the road, answered briefly enough to yell, "I DONT WANT TO FUCKING TALK TO YOU!!" and then hung up on me, I got pissed off enough to just rev the crap out of it (oh idk... 6500 rpm?) and dump the clutch.

Car lerched, and made a nasty noise and started driving again. But stuttering really bad.

Limped it home while making terrible noises.

Then realized all my shit was still at work, so I drove it back to the office, making horrible noises.

Anybody have a turbo tranny?

That's shitty man, I can't believe that happened. I'll figure something out. Maybe I can pay for the next one if you can find one for a fair price.

Dont worry about it Kimo. Not at all ;)

Got a tranny from doug that needed a center diff, took it apart and discoverd that it was a bad bearing on one of the shafts in the transfer case. No biggie, swapped it from one of my other trannys...

Took apart the car today, everything is ready to lift out, just gotta pick up the cherry picker tomorrow.

Should be all done tomorrow night or early tuesday morning. Back on the road again... Until I pick up another car as a daily, i'm puttin miles on the legacy fast and its time it gets some real tlc that isnt rushed.

Oh and found a REALLLLLLLY bad problem today... Front passenger wheel bearing is DESTROYED... as in, I'm amazed the wheel hasnt fallen off yet. Gonna have to replace the whole hub, i'm sure its worn a grove in it.

That's great to hear. Have you tested it out on the road yet? I still feel bad.

When I got my first legacy the guy who sold it to me told me it had a bad rear differential. He had one from the junkyard ready to go in. It was making a lot of grinding noise so I swapped it out and the problem was still there. Jacked it up and spun the wheels and found out 3 wheels had totally destroyed bearings! Haha. Guess that's what 285K miles will do to some wheel bearings. I replaced all 3 hub assemblies from a junkyard car and 1 of them was bad again. Replaced that one again and everything was gravy. Easier than replacing a bearing I'd say and only cost about $15 a piece.

Almost done...

The rain is causing constant delays. Its pissing me off!!

Everything is almost in... Engine and tranny, have to finish gettting one of the axles mated (the pin wont go through for some reason... grrr. And the shifter

Put a 10lb Flywheel on because the other was slightly fudged up... the snout on the input shaft siezed to the bearing on the stock wrx flywheel i had (why there is a bearing there I dont know). And when I forced the engine and tranny apart the bearing exploded and shot a few ball bearings around. So I swapped it with my light weight one.

Discoverd why I've hated to ej20g... the up pipe was almost totally split apart, so the turbo took forever to spool up. Replaced the uppipe and headers with my other headers and perrin up pipe.

Just gotta wrap things up once it stops raining.

Sorry John... I will. I was thinking about that today.

Okay so update... Its zingy as hell... Just like a motorcycle. But there is an issue, of course there is.. Would one of Spencers projects ever just go as planned? oh hell no.

Whenever the clutch engages it gets a really nasty clanking awful noise.

Is it the tranny you say? I dont know yet. I'll find out tomorrow.

Oh man. Hopefully my 9lb flywheel is too zingy. I mean zingy like a crotchrocket sounds great but I doubt it's THAT great.

Everything done... Noise was the pilot bearing... Long Story short... I pulled the engine again, fixed the pilot bearing issue, and put it back together. All well and good.

Zingy as HELL... Like a motorcycle. Its much quieter without a separated up pipe. Also... The turbo actually spools!!!! Yay for boost!!! I might not actually hate the ej20g now LOL
