Well I'm not going to get a non OEM one... I've been told that the odds of them working is not very good.

The reason people tend to have problems with fitting universal oxygen sensors is that it's hard to attach to oxygen sensor wires because of the metal alloy they're made of. If you have access to a good professional-grade crimping tool it should work fine. Bosch aftermarket sensors come with those "Posi-Lock" connectors and in my experience they seem to work as well.

What you can do if you're visiting a junkyard is just cut any good-looking sensor off almost any car (as long as it's not wideband), with the harness connector from the car and several inches of wiring on the car side. Then also cut the MAF or TPS connector off a Legacy, with a few inches of wire.

Then, you cut the connector off your stock sensor, extract the three pins, and replace them with pins from the MAF or TPS connector. Crimp or solder these wires to the wires on the car-side connector of the "new" oxygen sensor. That'll be easy because they're just copper.

It's a lot of work, yes, but it's certainly cheap.

Thanks Vikash. I just may do that ;)

All the Honda CRXs seem to have their o2 Sensors for some reason lol... I'll have to check if they are a 3 wire.

And BTW V, your scan tool is amazing. I borrowed it from doug and wow... Just wow. So helpful!! Watching the fuel trims was interesting... Because of the o2 sensor its adding almost 20% at idle, WITH 440 cc injectors trying to richen it up a bit because the o2 reads full Lean.

Yup, it's hitting the rail. The fuel trims max out around plus or minus 19.5%.

You don't need a 3-wire necessarily. Any standard (i.e. not wideband) sensor should do. That means 1-wire, 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire. I've used all four types on my car.

This page looks like it has a lot of info on identifying oxygen sensor wires: http://home.earthlink.net/~jcgebhart/o2sens.html

This post identifies the stock wires:

http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?p=91455

So, you've got your aftermarket sensor. Here's what to do with each of the wires:

Signal+: Connect it to the stock "Signal" wire.
Signal-: Connect it to the stock "Heater -" wire.
Heater (there would be two of these): Connect one to the stock "Heater +" wire and the other to the stock "Heater -" wire.

As you can see, you may end up connecting two sensor wires to the car's "Heater -" wire. That's fine.

In any case the sensor should do its job. 2-wire and 4-wire sensors just provide a slightly more precise reading, and 3-wire and 4-wire sensors just warm up faster.

In my experience you can find fairly new 4-wire sensors in junkyards by looking for cheap Kias and Hyundais that were in accidents. They don't have to be badly damaged before the repair cost exceeds their blue book value, so you can find cars that are only a couple of years old, with two 4-wire sensors each.

LTU:

So I've got over 1000 miles on the motor now...

and I must say...

HOLY SH*T

Hauls balls... seriously, with the vf10, its faster than the 22t with the vf24.

The AFRs at 14 psi are around 10.5-11.5:1 and at cruise its around 14.7-15

So yea...

Love the bigger motor, definitely torquier (if thats a word lol)

Well, I'm calling the engine build done and complete.

Its all broken in, and running in great order!

Drove it to seattle yesterday and, while hauling balls the whole way, still got almost 26 mpg!!

I wanted to say thanks to a few people on here who helped me with it all...

Doug!!! (thanks for building the kickass block and helping me along the way, couldnt have done it without you!!)
Dave (who isnt on here, but worked for Rallitek and helped me build it and coached me so i didnt F shit up.)
Andy (92ss satinsvoice) thanks for the help dude
Andrew (the hookeup) thanks you for the help collecting parts! Headgaskets and water pump gaskets etc... Oh and telling doug all those months ago that I was looking for a 2.5L LOL
And Dale at NWSSG, who traded me a set of 02 SOHC heads for my 20g heads so I could trade them to Dave for the LGT Heads

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!! And everyone on here who also helped me plan the build and gave me advice!

It feels actually a little better that with the vf10... I'm guessing because the vf10 was tired and old... Or maybe its the new Perrin Up-Pipe (but I dont really see that having an effect lol)

And! It hold mre than 6lbs to Redline!!! now holding 9! lol

I'll try and get some pics of the new beaut tomorrow when we pick it up!

And we found a home for the old shell, it will be going to cj91legss because he needs a shell to revive his car.

Which makes me happy, SAVE THE LEGACYS! lol

Oh! And I just realized I've now had all three years of the post facelift Legacys! All White, All Factory 5 speeds!
92 with the most miles, 93 with in between miles, and 94 with ultra low miles!
