ok first off that starter sounds totally messed. It is like the motor is getting stuck. 2nd of all did you check the timing belt. Try pulling the covers? make sure the belt is lined up properly. I am sure that is the only problem.

hmm, having a new starter on hand couldn't hurt, but when mine died, it sounded a hell of a lot worse.

don't know if anyone mentioned it or not, or if you've already figured it out:

left to right, front to back
1,2 front cylinder numbers
3,4 back cylinder numbers

firing order is 1,3,2,4

the book has a large section on the timing belt procedures and lining them up properly.

what is your spark plug gap set to? did you switch to new ones? what brand are you using?
i know in the past i put stock NGK plugs in, with the .44 gap and it was too high. i remember having to adjust to a smaller gap... .3 or so.

Also the haynes manual i'm referring to is 89100 in case you need to pick one up for ideas.

SO i should gap at .41 and see what happens?

I really appreciate all this help, just got no time right now!

ALthough i believe its not the timing, its possible im using the wrong cam sensor, therefore the firing sequence is diffrent, ill gap to .41 today and try some starter fluid!

err, no, i gapped mine at .030 instead of .044

:D

also, i change them every 2 oil changes, just to be sure since i don't want misfires again, basic NGK coppers, not iridium or any other fancy ones. Haven't had a problem since.

here's the thread i started on the local board in Toronto

http://www.toronto-subaru-club.com/foru ... spark+plug

basic gist of it was misfires at high boost...
problem went away after new plugs and gap decrease.

good luck.

Please search in the electrical forum about the perfect power. There is at least one massive thread, and probably a few more. The big thread I believe has links to the manuals.

I believe so. I just told the Subaru dealer that I had a 91 Legacy SS and I needed a new fuel pump and that I wanted the Walbro 255LPH. He said, "Okay, the one for the STi will work."

That's all I know lol.

Just as expensive as it would be anywhere else. I think it came out to $109 with tax.

Yeah. Mine was $109 USD.

Try looking online for one. That will probably be much cheaper.

So you take a one step forward and a 2 steps back.

Mounted Boost Gauge, wired ground and wired power to what i thought was the "lighter ring light" apparently not as the light still works, The light always stays on with with the key in and it will go off with the key set to off. Put interior back together and such.

Installed cam gear sensor, wired it in according to wire color, done there.

Installed the walbro 255LPH Fuel pump, done there.

Turn key to on, let the turbo prime the fuel pump go too.

It makes one loud poof, like it turned on and then, Nothing.

Check the coil, there is NO SPARK anymore! I check the ground, it was a little bad so i redid it, STILL no SPARK!

The Car does not attempt to fire at all anymore.

When cranking it, it will crank for a few seconds and then crank very slowly once and then crank normally again and nothing, I have no idea why i have no SPark anymore, Could the fact that i possibly wired the CAm gear sensor wrong effect that?

Im losing alot of ambition and hope for this project, i am tired, broke and behind in school, i have to get this thing going, if not, I dont know what to do.

Keep me motivated guys, please.
