Right after the turbo works fine. I have mine down on the bottom of the downpipe. It's a little laggy at light load, but when I put the wood to it, its plenty fast. The Zeitronix software makes it easy to figure everything out.

But what about the bung that's directly behind the wastegate? Is that going to work there and if so which sensor should I put behind the wastegate and which sensor should I put right in the main stream? I have a bung at the bottom of the pipe but that's after the cat so that's not a good location anymore.
The whole time I was at the junkyard I had it hanging off a car in the sun. But, you're right I should wash it. It smells a little nasty.
its such an easy fix now to wash it.

Its almost IMPOSSIBLE to get a mold contamination out of a car without stripping the interior.

Both spots will have current exhaust gas, so the reading shouldn't be an issue. I would possibly put the wideband on the wastegate wide for longevity, but plenty of people have had them last a long time in the main stream. It's up to you.

Thanks buddy. I'm thinking about going over there right now to remove my exhaust and spray the wrap with silicone sealer. Should prevent it from soaking up any oil that might leak or spill or whatever. Hard to be motivated at this time though.

I could probably jack it up and get the intercooler and turbo off and the exhaust and spray it all tonight if I keep up a good pace. The manifold does come off in the car right?

How come on the OEM turbos I always see they have a vacuum line that goes to a "T" and from there one side goes to the turbo outlet nipple and the other side goes to the wastegate hard line? Is it supposed to be like that? Should I hook mine up like that? I had the turbo outlet nipple going to the bottom of my boost control solenoid and the wastegate hard line going to the top of the boost control solenoid. Is that not correct?

Did you use the 1" wide heat wrap or the 2" wide stuff? Im looking on ebay here and trying to figure out which would be a better choice.

Use the 1 inch stuff.2 inch will leave a lot of loose flapping shit everywhere on a highly bent manifold like ours, even 1 inch is a pain to make look good.Although i also only wrapped the thin sections where i see heat more easily dissipated.

No, do not hook it up like that. That setup is used with bleed boost setup. It is not as good as the setup found on the stock turbo legacy. You actually see the WRX guys upgrading to the GM or other boost control solenoids to improve boost response.

The difference is with the boost line running to the solenoid and then to the wastegate, the solenoid can completely block off boost pressure to the wastegate to allow boost to build faster.

The bleed type setup with the tee can't fully keep boost pressure off the wastegate, and boost won't build quite as fast.

BTW, the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line hooks up through the metal lines and then at the vacuum source right near the purge solenoid

Oh, I'm not sure if my manifold has that vacuum nipple there or if I already used it for something else. Should be fine plugging it in up by the coil pack though, right?

Yeah that's fine. As long as it has a vacuum/boost reference point.

I've always used 2" wrap with ~1" overlap and it turns out decent. Wetting the wrap helps a lot. So does a proper plan of attack.

Pretty much exactly what I did with mine. Except I didn't know about the water method but I wrapped it tight enough that it worked out well.

Took my exhaust off the hanger. Looks good. Hopefully all sealed up nice-like.

Then I removed my intake manifold (PITA) and found out the NA lines I got from beatersubi don't fit at all. I think my only option now is to make custom fuel lines to supply the NA rails.

Image
Image
Image
Image

This is where most of the fitment issues are. The silicone intake is in the way and there's too much bending of the lines to make it fit. I already tried and kinked the shit out of them.

Image

Comparison of injectors.

Yellow Top STI 565cc
Red Top NA Legacy 280cc? Something like that
Grey Top JDM Forester 440cc (or 480cc?)

Image

I was kind of worried after seeing the different fuel feed location on the injectors themselves but after examining the rails I think they'll still get fuel way down at the bottom.

Powered up my boost gauge to see what it looks like. I think I'll go with the amber LED backlighting.

Can you swap the black plastic sleeve from one injector to another? The one with the screen.

I tried and I don't think it's coming off without breaking it. The sleeve isn't the problem though. It's the size of the injector itself. Fits great in the NA rails just not in the EJ20G rails.

Legacy NA rail with STI 565cc injector. Fits the same as the NA injector fit.

Image
Image
Image
Image

Forester EJ20G rail with STI 565cc injector. Doesn't sit all the way down and the bottom doesn't seal at all.

Image
Image
Image

Forester EJ20G rail with stock 440cc injector.

Image

Forester EJ20G rail with STI 565cc injector.

Image
Image

Side by side comparison. STI injector gets narrow towards the bottom where the forester injector stays wide. The lower seals are of different sizes and locations which prevents it from getting any kind of seal.

Image
Image

What are these spacers for? I think Stephen (beatersubi) told me when I bought the rails and lines from him but I forgot.
