CJ's Prefaced 92 SS build 22T/205 Hybrid - Legawrex

Post by cj91legss »

Well i finally bought a shell from Someone local, Nick @ Pacific Import Auto (Thanks for the Killer deal BTW.) Pretty excited about that... now after i get settled into my new place i can strip the Sedan and start preping for the teardown and re-install.

So basically here's how the shell looks now...

Image
Image
Image

The reason for doing this is, back in 2006 i t-boned a Dodge Durango and tried to fix my car fater that. I ONLY fixed the exterior, the frame rail is still a little bent and there's a big chuck of sheetmetal missing under the hood....

Well anyways my Wagon is already converted so im just going to take all my fun stuff out of the wagon and transfer it over to my sedan i just bought.

After i finish tearing down and re-installing i will have some stuff available in the parts shed.

Then after i get more funds i will be re-doing my engine with some 20H heads and Manifold, sti side-feeds and the revtronix chip.

So seeing as this is "technically" my second build i want to share this time like others have.

My first Build was converting my wagon to Turbo AWD from FWD A/T. That was very Successful with some help from Eric @ frantic Four and Kris, the guys who basically got me started in subarus complately.

**Update 3-25-2015**

Reading that stuff above makes me feel all old n stuff...

Anyways I thought I would drop a mod list here.

EJ22T w/ 205 heads
AVO380 (GT28)
550 Top Feeds
Full 2002 WRX dash, harness, ecu bumper to bumper
TGV Delete
Megan headers DEI wrapped
Front mount
04 Sti struts with Sti pink springs
Rotas

the RS wheels belong to jake so can't sell them, as far as the spoiler im not going to build another wagon so you can buy it. just remind me about it cuz i'm pretty forgetful about things.

206er, No im running stock WRX suspension right now... the coilovers definately got tiring... are you the one i got them from a few years back?

A little History on the wagon too, It started out as a FWD Automatic. Bought a Wrecked 5 Speed wagon from copart back in 2004-05, cant remember which year exactly, and did the conversion (First time ever working on a car really) And a couple years ago I did the full 5 Speed Turbo Legacy Conversion. So the wagon has definately been around the block.

Current mod list is small but there is something to list

TD04
GC 2.5rs rear lateral links w/ C shaped Endlinks & sway bar
VRG3's Electronic FCD (Made it muhself)
MSR 17" wheels
Greddy front mount piping & offbrand Intercooler

So i am curious about ABS. I know what it is but seriously do i need it?

The shell i have has ABS. I don't want to have to deal with removing all the brake lines and what not, i believe the ABS harness is in the car but MY turbo harness in my wagon is non-abs so should i implant the ABS harness into my turbo harness or no? The guy i bought the SS from said i shouldn't have to worry about the abs as it sits and my brakes will work just fine and to leave it unplugged...

But do i want ABS or not?

He's referring to the ABS. Obviously without ABS, if you lockup the wheels in a panic stop, you'll not be able to steer.

The brake lines are also different. I'd say it's pretty involved job swapping to ABS.

ok, all of the brake lines are there and already hooked up to the abs unit and the calipers. i wont have to worry about that hassle. im just curious about the electrical or do i even need to have the electrical hooked up? will the brakes work fine with out the abs unit plugged in?

My ABS starting acting up a few weeks ago, I think the ABS pump just needs bled. We bled the brakes but I then read that you need to bleed, go do some hard stopping to get the ABS pump going, then bleed again. Maybe even a few more times. So I just unplugged the fuse and Im not too worried about the loss

For the electrical. You've got the wiring to the ABS pump, the ABS tone sensors at each wheels, g-sensor near the center of the car, and any misc wiring tieing that all together to the ABS ECU. I don't know if the ABS ECU is tied to any other ECU.

yeah all that stuff is already on the shell i believe, i was just concerned about the abs harness and how it gets power and was wondering if it's getting power off the chassis harness anywhere.

I finally got some time to do something, i've been busy with work and working on my house and what not...

So anyways, i made my own adapter plate for when i do my 20H Manifold and heads swap for my throttle body. This will space my T-Leg throttle body away from my manifold enough to allow my throttle cables to open up correctly.

Got my under the manifold turbo inletpipe yesterday. ordered the $30 dollar one off bay because it was cheap and i actually wanted to try it for myself, if it doesn't work then i'll sell it.
Image

Today, i finished my shed 10'x12' so now i have a place to start working on my motor. I started tearing the Wagon apart seeing as im selling the front clip to a fellow member of the board.

Had a little bit of help from my neighbors kitty cat too

And the result of the tear down.

Cheap Ebay BOV, will be replacing with a correct Bypass Type H valve

Best intercooler (out of 4) that ive had, nice and small but wide, NO Pressure loss w/ Greddy Piping

I'm really going to miss my Wagon, but i've wrecked it too many times so it's definately time to let her rest. Me and my friends called her Hissifit because it had loud BOVs all the time and it hauld ass. I have had it since 2005 and recieved it by selling a 1982 Jaguar XJ6 to a friend of mine. I received the Wagon and 500 cash for a Jag i paid $571 For off of Ebay.

RIP Wagon.

So i did some work on the wagon today.

I started to get my engine ready to pull and got most of itready, then tore into the interior. Pulled the dashboard, uninstalled my alarm, and pulled the whole front clip's wiring harness.

I'm not looking forward to installing my alarm again but it's absolutely necessary.

actually i have no idea... i traded a huge ass fmic for this one. it was on a 240 that was running high boost and he wanted the bigger intercooler so i figured it wasn't a bad deal. i know the one i had before was an ebay intercooler. this one has no stamping on it so i would assume it's generic.
