Not having vss puts the car into a kinda sorta limp mode. If you have the stock BCS connected, it restricts boost. It also kills fuel economy from my experience.

It will also run the fans all the time as well. I'd suggest hooking up the speedo.

I only do those speeds on the interstate, haha.

I have an EBC hooked so I am good there.

Yea fuel Economy hasn't seemed to be that good but can't really tell as I have no odometer

That is going to be an issue because they are different I believe between my 2 transmissions.

Do you need the 5 inch adapter that screws into the trans? I could send you mine for whatever you think it's worth. I will be converting to electronic speed sensor.

Yeah, it's a pretty easy swap between the mechanical and electronic type sensors.

Well I do have the electronic cluster like you do. However you used the LINK to get it to work or only for the sweeping effect?

If so I'll just swap the electronic sensor. If not, CJ I'll let you know.

Video here for you

Boost is turned to about 10PSI right before fuel cut. Still having a little issues with boosting so I have to figure that one out.

That thing is noisy

Regarding the electronic cluster, I could have run the speed sensor directly to the cluster. I ran it to the Link first so it knows the car's speed and so I could calibrate the speedo.

Running the electronic speed sensor output directly to the speedo, you just don't have any calibration.

Maybe you mentioned on the page before or earlier in your thread, but why do you have 2 types of boost controllers?

By using 2 different types (hybrid) it uses the manual as a safety feature. In the event the EBC wants to spike or whatever the manual will always be at the very top PSI before fuel cut that I set it at so I wont have to worry about over boost.

Basically I set the manual at 12 PSI and the EBC at 12 PSI but don't have to worry about over boost.

Do you experience overboost situations that frequently with the EBC that you need the MBC?

This might sound ridiculous but would it be a good idea to set the manual at say 13? It's still a safe amount of boost to run but then you could at least see if you're getting a number of spikes? Just a thought. Idk.

Ah. Yeah I'm really not sure. I'm totally a noob but it'd be nice to know if the amount of spikes was becoming abnormal or something. I'm not sure how you could do that with the least amount of work.

No I am not running a FCD. It does keep overboosting, I just need to get it dialed in. I also need to see if I have a leak somewhere. I still need to get the speedo fixed, I picked up a electronic speed sensor off a 98 outback so I'll look into using that for the EDM cluster.

Although I just got a z4 ecu, 440 injectors, and Jecs maf. So I am hoping this will fix the boost, idle issues.

Well, thanks to Kimo's awesome write up I have started my COP install. I have done exactly what he said to do exept for a few areas, so I am not going to go into how I did it. Also installing Robtune ECU with 440 injectors.
The one thing I did different is use the coil pack plug since the power wire is already split on it. I also had to make my own connectors as mine didn't come with them. Wasn't to hard but takes time. I also moved the grounds off the bolts, hopefully it's not to far of a distance. Right side is done and almost finished with the left side. Will start on the ECU next.

Ok so done with the engine side and the ECU side. Wasn't too bad and less wiring than I thought. I suggest if anyone is going Robtune to just go COP conversion as well. A lot cleaner and not to bad. Now I just need my o-rings for the injectors and put the dash back in and I'm good to go. Can't wait to drive this car!

Ok so all wiring is done and finally got the car to start. Problem is, it is running only on cylinder 2&4. Believing it maybe the ECU as I have checked everything else.

Stay tuned

Problem solved, ground was on the valve cover instead of the block like the driver side. Moved it over and bingo! Also added a chasis ground to the bolt for extra protection.
