Did you end up using the rear outrigger bushings? As far as I know the rear diff bushings are different, but how about the outrigger bushings?!

You can use the outrigger bushings. I have them on my car. They come with 2 different kinds for different chassis and you only use one pair.

I haven't used the diff or outrigger bushings yet, the tranny mount, x member bushings and pitch stop took away most of the clunking that was pissing me off so I lost some motivation to work on the rear.

I think the next thing on my list is a tranny fluid change. Last time I was under there I noticed how much fluid was on the outside of the case. I think I'll clean it and change the fluid. It's the least I can do for 217,000 of service from a n/a 5 speed, with about 40,000 miles of that with boost. Maybe new fluid will help going into 1st and 3rd, both of which are notchy.

Car got pretty banged up last week. A driver was tailgating me in the left lane on the highway and went to pass me on the right and screwed up big time, somehow he lost it and smacked my passenger quarter panel and sent me sideways at 70 mph. The slide felt like forever, but wound up stopping just short of some trees on the shoulder. Both our cars came to a rest next to each other, but he immediately took off, hit and run. I called the cops and went through the motions, turns out a witness saw and called in his plate. Waiting to hear what will happen, pretty bummed out, haven't been in an accident in like 8 years.

The car sits on stock 93 SS struts with matching H & R springs. I'll see if I have more details on the springs, like the p/n etc.

Buying another car tomorrow to cruise in so I can do some work on the Legacy. It's been my only car for a while now and has really never let me down, even with all the work I've done, the high miles, Robtune etc, always runs fantastic! I owe it another lease on life. But it will be nice having a RWD car again....

Hopefully not considered treason, but I picked up a Cressida to switch off with the Legacy so I can work on it. Never owned a Toyota before but always liked these. The only tricky part will be focusing on the subie and not a 1JZ +W58 swap on this thing!

Yup, it's a 5M-GE I believe, kind of a slug coupled to the auto, but pretty tough. These cars share a lot with the MKII Supra.

I don't know a lot about that car, it's my sister's ex boyfriend's. But it has a VR6 in it, I think that's why there's a hole chopped in the hood.

Wow been a while. Haven't posted in over two years but decided to check back in since I picked up a 92' SS just two weeks ago. While I'm still daily-ing the wagon, the SS reminded me how great these cars are and made me miss this site. I'll probably start a separate thread for the SS but here's some info on the wagon, been a busy two years. I'll try my best to keep this chronological and add some pics later on.

After the accident I did a timing belt and water pump when the belt failed on me leaving a gas station. Next up was a clutch, I nailed it in second and the car pulled hard, then nothing. The friction part of the disc actually sheared away from the hub. Spec was kind enough to listen to my story and send me a new disc and PP at a discount, the disc was actually a custom job with a solid hub instead of the usual design with several thin fingers joining the hub and disc.

A few months later the stock transmission, which for a long time had a serious bearing noise, finally self-destructed. The rear main shaft bearing race split and it spewed most of the balls into the case. No grudges against N/A 5-speeds, this one had 225k miles. I found a lower mile copy on craigslist to put in.

I decided to convert the car to RWD with the new trans. I know this isn't for everybody but after 5 years with the car I wanted to try something different, and with the car being rapidly overcome with rust, I thought I may try drifting it. A few welds on the center diff and modifying the front axles and I was underway. I also picked up an LSD and matching axles but haven't installed it yet. Even with the open diff it is pretty fun pulling off half-assed slides and squealing the tires through first. The engine still runs like a champ at 17 psi even with the longblock approaching 200k miles.

Here are some pics of the most recent work.

Clutch damage after hard 2nd gear pull. Friction material still great but the fingers gave out.

Trans destruction after new clutch. About 225k miles on trans.

Aside from the bearing, the gears, syncros and everything else looked pretty good.

Made a carnage trophy for my dash.
