I found a peanut butter surround at a yard here (wasn't expecting to see a 1st Gen at all, let alone a manual). Its got the shift boot and plastic tabs and all, looks like it would clean up nice. For some reason I thought of you when I saw it.

Is it from the 90-91 MY's? Would you mind picking it up for me? Going to send you a PM.

Thanks for the comments! It's been a long road since when I received it and now. I've almost had this car for 20 years! That's pretty crazy....and you're pretty luck to have a 91 with only around 80,000 miles on it! :)

Well...it still needs to be retuned.

My tuner and his wife just had a new baby a month or so ago. I just talked with him this week and he said he's not going to be able to get away for several months. But he did say he feels comfortable to remote tune my car since he tuned it originally. I just need some time and a driver so I can get some of the little settings worked out, and then I can send him some logs and stuff so he can work on the tune.

My grandfather bought it new (I was 9).
Asked me to sell it. Had no bites, so I'm keeping it.

If it comes to that, I'll do it. I'm tired of this thing not being properly setup. Besides a driver....lack of time is my other nemesis.

Just for future reference for others, below is the temperature calibration tables that are found in the Link ECU. I believe the stock Subaru temp sensor uses the Std Bosch NTC calibration, however I've found some conflicting information and need to do some testing to verify that.

The IAT & oil temp sensors I'm using are the Delphi AC IAT/ECT temp sensors. Here's what I'm using:

Interestingly over the past few months I've noticed an odd smell after parking the car in the garage which I attributed to paint and adhesive for the turbo heat shield work. However I also noticed a faint fuel type smell. I don't recall whether it has gotten worse or more intense, but just something I've noticed after driving the car.

I came home from the airport on Thursday evening and almost immediately I smelled fuel. I smelled around the car and it was in the front passenger side of the car....it dawned on me that it's probably coming from the charcoal canister. What I don't recall is whether the turbo charcoal canister vents to the atmosphere like the non-turbo one does. I can't seem to find my turbo charcoal canister in the garage.....so I don't remember if I sold it or if it's just buried some place.

Ultimately I'll just blow into the lines coming from the engine, plug the other two on the top and see if it vents from the bottom. If it doesn't, I'll likely put the turbo one back on and cap the auxiliary purge port.

I've got a little bit of an update on things. I washed the Legacy on Friday.....she was pretty filthy! I need to wax the car, but that'll have to wait a little bit longer. With the help of my neighbor I configured the gear detection in the ECU for the new 6spd.

Today I test fit the rear bumper skirts Maciek sold me. I will need to spend a little more time enlarging the mounting holes a little bit before I get them painted. There's also some small gaps in the fitment and I'm not 100% sure how to deal with it. I don't really like the fact the gaps are there, so will need to figure something out.

Here are some pictures:

http://main.experiencetherave.com/subar ... mperskirts

I also turned 196,300 miles today!

The other news is that I will be shipping the Legacy out to California to get retuned the first week of November. A buddy is taking a race car out there for a race at Sonoma and they've got a spot for one more car. So I lucked out with the timing and that helps with the transportation costs. So it shouldn't be long before she's up and running at full strength.

Yup ;)

I'm running a UK/US hybrid electronic speedo gauge cluster. I'm using the electronic speed sensor in the 6spd to go to the ECU and then am calibrating it via the ECU to display the correct speed.

You know he's not lying about it being electronic because it clearly says "ELECTRONIC" under the odometer, lol.

Washed & prepped the Legacy for the cross-country trip to the tuners. By Friday it should be tuned, running better, and making better power.

Also, I posted a little blurb in the Engine forum about the spark plugs I pulled from the motor and analyzing them. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Car has been tuned and she made 255 hp & 306 ft-lbs at the wheels! She pulls pretty good!

I'll post dyno plots and some more info when I get back to Houston.

Well, I've been a bit MIA due to work and the holidays. However, I kind of picked up a few additional parts during my visit to Seattle ;)

I picked up a set of 4/2-pots, 2015 STi shifter knob, and some other miscellaneous parts. I installed the new shift knob today and the big difference between the old 2004 & 2015 shift knob is the weight. The 2015 shift knob is almost 3 times as heavy as the 2004 shift knob.

Here are pics.
