awrysobriquet's '94 SS "Selene"

Post by awrysobriquet »

Over a year and a half after my '92 SS was rear-ended in traffic by a Dodge Ram, I've finally found a replacement. I got lucky with this one. It's a 1994 5MT Legacy SS. It had been on Craigslist for a week when I found it. The ad was terse, only had one picture (from the rear), and didn't identify it as a turbo car (I spotted it by the spoiler). I went and saw it on Saturday and bought it last night from a small towing company. It cost almost exactly what I got out of my old SS from insurance. The car is just about 100% stock, as far as I can tell (down to the radio/CD player), and runs decently (I suspect it probably has regular in the tank right now :|). There is some minor body damage where the front fenders are interfering with the doors, probably due to a slow front collision. There's also some damage to the left-rear door, but it lines up correctly and doesn't bind. The car feels remarkably solid for being 18 years old, with just the usual signs of old rubber bushings (shift linkage, etc.).

What this all means is that it's time to get down to business parting out my poor Winestone '92 SS (see parts list below). The build journal for that car is here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=38166

Note that I never actually ran those wheels on that car. They came off my 2001 Legacy GT Limited when I bought it in favor of the SS's six-spoke RS wheels.

HA! That's an NA front bumper, isn't it? I just noticed. Makes sense, considering there was some front end damage at some point. Well, one more thing to swap, I suppose.

Well, it was advertised as a '93, but I discoverd that it's actually a 1994 model when I called my insurance agent. Updated the initial post.

Took the car out to the bi-weekly meet at Clackamas Town Center last night. Turned out to be a pretty good group; almost 20 cars showed up - mostly newer WRXs and Legacies. I had the only BC, but it was good fun. Besides, you can't argue with free donuts. It even turned out that the mall cop that came to check on us was driving an older RS and hung around chatting for a bit.

I suspect that I'll end up with a good number of spare parts when I'm done with the swaps. I may eventually have a turbo hood, etc for sale, but probably not any time soon. I'll definitely post it up when I do.
