I'll second Bell Intercoolers. They custom made the AWIC exchanger for me. They do very nice work!

yep ! I am very happy with my pick and intercooler product !

well its been a while, i have been running the motor in a bit all is good ! even beat it up a bit with out a intercooler on she feels good.

what i have been doing to get it done so far is all this stuff.

Recaro seats are both in & i think best freaking seat out there hands down !.. my favourite mod for sure there that good.
Image

so i got the intercooler mounted, she looks ok so far.

so instead of cutting the only mint condition bumper cover left on the plant rare to the Canadian models of the GL-10, I found some scrap yard in West coast Canada that had 2 skins with full Re-Bar set up.

just need to paint the lower section white like the original I have put away for safe keeping.

Image

also who would have new that the BRZ rad is the same size and thicker with the bigger ports !.. its needs a bit of work to put in but same size and 2 Row !

Image

Image

and to make sure I can view all my sensors a AIM MXL Strada

Were you going to put some kind of screen over that intercooler to keep the bugs and rocks out of it?

How much was that AIM dash, and how do you plan to install that in the car?

I don't drive the car that much but will see maybe something up front will help from all the rocks and bugs.

Legacy777 wrote:How much was that AIM dash, and how do you plan to install that in the car?

i got it from my buddys at NVauto local shop to me on a trade, jdm 2.0l short block and jdm 4 pot 2 pot brakes. retail you can get one for 1200 all said and done.

it only uses 4 wires i was told from Franz, power, ground, ecu 1, ecu 2.... he will be hooking it up soon when we go to Washington, D.C. to see him in August

for now i have it mounted my way which looks ok but, i got a dash cluster coming in from scrap yards to shoe horn it in place so it looks factory or more normal.

kimokalihi wrote:Hope that koyo radiator is better than the ones everybody used on our first gens that leaked.
i was thinking the same thing when i ordered it ! only way is to test one out and see. if all fails im cutting out the lower rad support make my own bracket ordering a OEM factory legacy turbo rad and sticking it in the GL-10.

no more messing around doing it once and right even if i have to cut little things here and there for a better gain.

i tried all oem to work around it but it has to many limits for what i want.

so far this is how i mounted the aim cluster but i think i will change it once my spare cluster comes in from the scrap yards. the flush mount should look much better if it fits.

Image

also from japan ! L'aunsport http://www.launsport.com/ WRC hood vents from GR Subaru model. Eita is a great guy even sent me books on subarus and mesh.

these vents are like subaru america rally car ones with out the hole trim, they have the L shape thing and just cut out.

decide to change the cluster set up cant have it the other way, so my scrap yard cluster came in and I made a template out of paper then on aluminium. just need turn lights, VDO fuel guage, high beams and its ready to be put in after paint job.

that's not the oem cluster out my car ! I have it put away.

I would like to thank Franz and his familia for all the hospitality while I was down in the USA !... I had a blast down there and all most didn't want to come home.

here we have Franz's amazing hand crafted one of a kind Leone intercooler piping that fits perfect and does a fantastic job keep the temps down and power up !

Image

my new dash wired up by Franz, this time I can see and keep a eye on everything just in case something is not right.

Image

Franz's Dyno Dynamics tuning tool.... that fan in the back with the red EVO rally bumper on it !!! that thing will suck you in and spit you out the other side if you get to close !..

Image

all sensors hooked up ready to rock and roll the proper way !....

Image

so much eye candy OVER LOAD !

Franz's babys sided by side.... the EVO is just crazy !... its like a full blown race car and has EVERYTHING ! no joke !.. me I like the 86 Golf because I'm from the old school lol.

Image

looks amazing under this Golf's hood !

Image

this car was on the dyno getting all dialed in by Franz... this Porsche has a full blown carbon fiber wide body kit twin turbos and is packing 500hp and 2000lbs.... its freaking fast

Image

and some other car's he's working on around the shop...

this is what the dash looks like with night vision on

Image

so this is my new power level with working oil pump and front mount intercooler set up and the big s300sx FMW turbo on. so 21psi is safe for me, franz could have pumped more boost out but i need to get home to canada again just in case.

old plot with new plot dyno dynamics both on american 93 gas ( Canadian 94 gas will gain a bit more) next will try race gas which will bring the power way up and over the top because I have lots of room to play with... as of now its just insane to keep it all under control while I am on it, so baby steps on my part while driving and my a/c blows nice and cold to keep me calm lol.

Image

so things I need to do are:

maybe bigger rad (brz koyo)
oil cooler
lots of braces, one for the diff and a H brace up front with strut brace.

Nice numbers!

We get 93 down here with 10% ethanol which ups the octane rating a little more.

Legacy777 + kimokalihi in ontario we got 94 qith 15% ethanol.. but when i went to see Franz in D.C all 93 I found going there.. he told me that shell has the better gas, where i live its sunoco which has the better.

Turboturd wrote:Are you still runnig the stock radiator right now? How close measurement wise is the brz/frs radiator?

yep stock oem 1986 mt rad, brz rad needs to go in for sure if I want to stay cooler.. its in the works putting it in... its about the same size just thicker 2 row.

I went to the track to try my luck and see if it all holds together this past week, after doing one pass on the q-mile and getting kicked off for no helmet ! I managed to pull a 12.6 out.

I know I know my times suck out the box ! I dont want to snap my axles or leave my Diff on the floor ! so I took off bogging in first and not revving out 2nd or 3rd gear becuase the car likes to lay rubber in the rear tires.

I am on the left Porsche 977 twin turbo on right... high boost button used
Image

so after getting kicked off i went lapping to see how well the car handles ! scary move lol.... my brakes are to small or weak so maybe better pads, and the car feels like it needs some wider tires and bracing to help keep it more stable.
Low Boost On was used for lapping its to scary with high lol

as of now its fun to play with till i fix things out

I have my factory 86 gl-10 turbo radiator and it has a hell of a time cooling my stock ej20g. I'll keep an eye on here to see how the BRZ rad turns out, I need something different.

How old is the rad ?.. I got a new one so I could start fresh..

What size fans do you have on it ? I'm using 12" spal medium not slim line.

I got rid of the swirl pot thing also only rad cap is on the rad it self..

My temps hit 93 first fan on and 94 second fan on..

I'm also drawing all that through my a/c condenser lol..

On the track or really really hot days it hits 101 102 then I take it easy..

well the season is done for me and I got out on the track a couple times more for fun to test out my new brake pad's, the pad's helped out a bit more but still need more work.

PFC 01 compound group N pad's work well very well, lots of dust but rather stop then not.
Image

S203 S204 Spec-c Ra R oil cooler adapter factory from subaru oem has come in. built in thermostat opens at 100 C and OEM Made In Japan By STi no other adapter is better !
Image

my spare earls cooler should do the job, got rid of A/C for this set up :( lol
Image

I put the 86 Subaru Leone away for the season but next year to do lit will be fun.

wider sticky tires + smaller wheels 15"
Race gas tune 500hp DD it
better suspension stiffer springs
STi oil cooler
BRZ koyo rad install

i also was going to swap out my STi Spec-c 6mt 3.900 to my S204 STi 6mt 3.545, but its now in my winter beater (99 Nico). i think my winter beater will be more in need of longer gearing next spring when i do the motor swap.
