I like the progress. I want those wheels. I've seen some floating around but nothing in good shape..

Thanks! I love these wheels, I found them locally on craigslist for a very good deal.

I'm not sure what i'm going to do to this next, probably strut tower braces, and some other small things like that. After that it's going to get real expensive real quick. Not sure if I'm going to start my engine build, or start in on a 6 speed. Right now I'm thinking trans, as my clutch is tired, and my current five speed is making a lot of noise. Also when I put the engine in i'll be good to go.

Last week my friend came up from Virginia, and we got in some cruising, and also got a few great shots.

This is his wrx wagon.

I also got some parts this week! Manual seat belts! I can not wait to put these in.

Ordered new motor mounts. Mine are so done. I also got a new pitch stopper. Still haven't gotten around to putting the seat belts in. I've been busy working on my 84 gl wagon, and my ej swapped brat....

OH MY GOSH!

She looks awesome!

I could not be happier with who I sold her to. You've done such a nice job at babying her. Reading through this post made me tear up a bit, I miss her so much. Except for the moon roof leak, which I'm so sorry about ;) I'm glad you're enjoying the car. She deserves to be treated the way you are with your time and effort. Ok, this is getting weird. Short story...

Good job, man. Girlie sap story: Over.

Thanks! I really have been enjoying it as much as I can before salt season comes around, at that point I'll be getting my legacy wagon out again, and probably starting in on rebuilding/modifying the spare 22T I have kicking around, and maybe put a 6 speed into this, but I need to sell my VW before I get to do the transmission. What did you end up getting to replace it?

Today I swapped motor mounts. SO glad that I did.

You can't really see it but the bushing in the pitch stopper is cracked and falling apart

New part!

I won't have to explane why these are bad.

So nice to have the group N ones in place

It is so nice working on this car. It is so rust free. I unbolted the heat shields from the manifold without breaking a single bolt! I also did a couple things I have been meaning to do for a long time. I swapped out the knock sensor, and the coolant temps sensor as preventive maintenance, good think i did, the temp sensor was all but falling apart. I also welded the trans mount solid, which I now regret doing. I worked great on my dad's swapped 914, but on this it makes too much noise, that and I think my trans has a bad bearing somewhere. It makes a ton of noise under load (it did that before the mount was welded, it's just amplified now)

I thought the Groupe N trans mount was noisy. I can only imagine a solid mount.

Lost my wipers on they way to work yesterday, I had to run them by hand in the pouring rain, not a ton of fun... luckily it ended up just being a nut that fell off the motor, a new one and some lock tight and everything is good now!

Picked up a Cobb cat back today! I need to get a flange so I can match it to my perrin down pipe. I can't wait to hear this with new exhaust! I also ordered a strut tower brace.

Does it have a resonator? See how it sounds....if it drones on the highway, add a resonator and it'll help get rid of that.

It doesn't, but I will add one if it does. I work at an exhaust shop so modifying it to fit really shouldn't be a bit deal. I'm still waiting on flanges for it before I put the exhaust on. They should be here next week. I also totally forgot I ordered this. Always cool coming home to car parts you didn't remember buying!

Flanges came in today! I drove my car in, with the exhaust in the truck so I got to put the turbo back on. Took some time as I had to mod all of the hangers, and add a section to the cat back, and swap the flange. I didn't have time to take a sound clip, but I will make sure to do that later. Sounds good. No drone, nice and quiet cruising, and sounds great when I get on it too.

Will your next move be a TMIC? I've heard the Forester XT one fits well

Looking forward to a sound clip, nothing sounds like the EJ22

Thanks guys! I'm not doing a TMIC, I actually have a 06 wrx ic that would work fine, but with the engine mods I have planned I'm going to do a FMIC when the time comes.

Took this out for the first drive of the year. I have some work to do. Over the winter the power steering fluid decided to leak out so looks like I need to replace the lines (they have been seeping for some time), and either replace or rebuild the rack. It leaks around where the steering u-joint is bolted on. I also was able to check the check engine light after sitting all winter without a battery in it. There was no longer 10 codes stored in it. Looks like the only one I have so far is code 35. Looks like I get to change the purge valve.

Dove into some projects today. it started off with me wanting to clean the carpets, and ended up with me pulling the headliner out and starting in on the manual seat belt swap! The seat belt swap went well with the belts themselves. I didn't have the lower b pillar cover so I cut a small section of the US ones allowing the belts to move, I may have to notch them a bit more when the time comes. I have the upper trim for the a pillar. I'm going to modify my headliner (basically add some to the edges), and recover it to make everything appear stock instead of cutting the auto belts up and using the stock a pillar trim. Next weekend I need to pull the sunroof and see if I can reseal that to keep me from getting soaked every time it rains. I took a brief look at the sunroof after the headliner had come out. The drain tubes have shrunk to the point of almost not being attached in the front. It looks like a leak could be there for sure... and more in the other typical places.

Thanks man! IIRC the rear seat had to come out first, or at least I had it out when I removed it. Then I gently lifted up on it (I may have used a long screw driver) to pop all the plastic hold downs out of place, and it came right out after that.

I have essentially the same exhaust. The only difference is that mine has twin tips. Cobb has Stromung manufacture their cat-back exhausts for them. Anyway, I would LOVE it if you could take pictures of the spots where you had to cut and weld, and/or describe everything you had to do to make it fit properly. I'd like to know if I can have it taken care of locally, or if I have to drive up somewhere to get it done.

It will be a little while before I can take some pics, I'll have it on the lift in the next couple of weeks i would imagine I can take some pics then for you. I know the rear hangers were all changed, and I changed around the center section, but I don't remember how. I do exhaust work everyday so it all kind of blends together after a while.
