It looks like you can probably use that 20G power steering pump, or you can use yours if the lines don't match up. However, you may have to swap reservoirs, IF they're interchangeable.

SO i finally had some time to get more done on the legacy. I got the car moved to a new location, i now have a garage to work in for the first time ever

Definatley a first for me pulling a Subaru motor i was extremely paranoid i was gonna break something but as a matter of fact it turned out to be alot easier than any car iv worked on thus far so pretty happy about that

I was pleasantly surprised to find i had an ACT street lite weight flywheel and stage one clutch setup on the ej22 :smt023

The bay was extremely dirty with 20 years of grease and dirt, So we had to stop and get a pressure washer to clean everything up.

Got the trans out and started stripping down the block to a short block i have it sold for $400 and the turbo

Thanks man, Yeah this is a lot easier that i expected im dealing with issues on my 20g now im lost where to put the wasted spark coil pack or where to get longer Subaru spark plug wires :(

I started out with just leaving the coilpack on the top of the manifold. I used 1996-1997 legacy GT spark plug wires and they fit perfectly.

Not liking that setup, I made an L shape bracket off where the ac used to go, ran the coil pack north to south. For plug wires i bought a set of MSD custom wires for a V8 (my parts store didn't have the set for 4 cylinders), and cut them to length.

That was my first idea theirs two bolt holes on each side on the intake i could make a bracket to securely mount the coil is that what you kind of did and the ej25 wires are longer? mine are close but don't reach

Mine rubbed the insulation in the hood. I put a piece of cardboard for temporary. The 96-97 2.5 engine both was dohc and had the same coil as the ej22t so the length and figment was perfect.

I think I'm gonna get a set of those plug wires and see how they work you did that on a 20g swap like mine correct? Also are the wires 90 degree angle where they go on the plugs ? Thanks for the advice man

I had an ej20g swap just like yours. They worked perfectly. I just didn't like the coil pack hanging out on top of the manifold unsecured.

I made a bracket out of 1/16"aluminum that bolted to the top throttle body 12mm bolts and folded over on to the top of the manifold and bolted my coil pack to it.

Well id love to just have the coil pack mounted to the now empty ac bracket but this was what i was thinking to get my car running how important is the grounding of the coil pack what are your guys thoughts on this ?

The coil pack doesn't really ground through it's connection to the manifold, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Also, just a tip, the hood can be raised higher which helps with getting the motor in and out. This scan from the owner's manual shows how you can adjust the hood prop (top left).

Well im back sorry its been a while been really busy with life and had to put my car on hold for a bit but anyways im back to it check it out i pulled the manifold off and installed my 22t engine harness

i was also under the impression these motors came with a td05 guess not iv never heard of a VF8

The two bolts for each coil and the VF8 indicate that this is NOT a '93-'96 Impreza WRX or Forester motor as indicated by the eBay title above. It is a '89-'93 Legacy RS 5-speed motor. The VF8 indicates it's from a manual trans car (VF10 would be an automatic)

This motor uses the stub-rocker HLA setup, and NOT the newer and more commonly discussed cam-over-bucket setups. Also the valve cover gasket is specific to early Legacy EJ20Gs and does not have a USDM equivalent.

The good news is that while virtually all Impreza/Forester EJ20Gs were open deck motors, there is a decent chance (say about 30%) that this could be a closed deck motor. I can't tell 100% from your pics, but I'm leaning towards thinking yours is a closed deck. The power potential for street use is about the same as the newer EJ20Gs too. It's a good motor, I've used and abused mine and it's still going strong. I have a write-up on getting rid of the valvetrain ticking if yours does it.

Car looks good, the red is a nice, but rare, color.
