Yes, it also came on automatic 01-03 Legacy L models. Not Outback, or GT, or 5mt or H6.

The fill is on the right side. Will make filling a little more difficult for sure, but I don't change the oil very often

The diff cover has a different bolt pattern than the 05 LGT diff I wanted to install it on. The cover is for type VA differentials, the one with the r152mm ring gear. Unfortunately you cannot swap that cover on to T-type diffs that 90% of subarus have.

If I could find a 4.11 VLSD diff in the correct VA type housing, then I can run this. But for now, I need something that works.

T-Type differential - what we are used to, came on most subarus till recently. Notice the side bearing caps are bolted in.

VA (or VA1 or VA2 type, they can use the same cover). Notice the bearing caps screw in. And the diff case itself is funky shaped:
Image
In the 1.8L impreza days, these VA diffs had different spline count axles than the T-type. I can't comment from experience on the newer stuff, but I'd guess they use the same axle splines as the rest.

edit - my 2003 Baja ej25 with 4eat came with the VA type diff. It's spline count was different than a t-type.

Spent some quality time on the SS, focusing on wiring.

This car came with a hacked up dash harness, so I sourced a harness from a 1993 Touring wagon. Luckily the harness was plug compatible with everything on my 1992 SS (auto trans plugs notwithstanding). I did what was necessary to convert the car to run my 5mt (Thanks Kimo and Josh), and I also added new wiring to run coil on plug (thanks Dankberries and Kimo). I used a 4-pin waterproof connector so I could easily disconnect and pull the motor as needed. 18 AWG wiring for the signal wires, and 14 AWG for the power and ground.

CJ has been working on the car at the same time, doing the bulk of the work. He got the exhaust on, swapped WRX front and H6 rear brakes, changed the suspension out for STI struts and legacy-specific H&R springs, and also swapped out the stock flywheel for a LW one. Plus he's been very patient with my diff and trans and other changes.

Remaining to do is install the intake manifold, finish and install the FMIC, put the dash back in, and button up the interior.

And get a safe tune while it is broken in. Right now the tune is for my last build, a stock ej22t with a vf23 turbo. Going to a 9.x:1 CR block with DOHC & a faster spooling turbo.

Where the car is at now. Engine bay is almost done, then the interior needs to be put together.

I've got a good hunch that's why your not getting power, looking at the guage of a couple those wires , that's likely important ground/power wires.

I don't have my legacy with me, it's at a shop getting fun things done, so it's hard to reference, but I looked in my Impreza and located a very similar if not the same plug and it's connected to it's mate right under the steering column.

I didn't get much time to look today, but A glance at the FSM it appears to be apart of the B56 connection , but I couldn't find the correlation page showing/referencing it's purpose.

Sorry I don't have a direct answer Mike , hopefully someone else can chime in.
