thanks, i knew how to do the engine one but i did not know about the transmission codes, i more i can learn the better and i will check for codes hopefully this weekend,

Also i was wondering, what is the best line to tee in for a boost gauge, i was thinking close to the turbo outlet???????and if i put mbc in and raise 1-2 psi do i need to have a piggyback>
Thanks

You need to tee into a vacuum/boost source that is connected to the manifold. That will give a more accurate reading of how much boost the engine is seeing, rather then what the turbo may be producing.

No, you don't need a piggy back to raise it 1-2 psi. However you won't really get much by raising it that much. The next thing you should focus on is getting an intercooler.

thanks, i have an intercooler but it is out of a 2004 wrx top mount so its gonna be a squeeze getting it in!!!
i have a titanium exhaust from the down pipe back and i am going to make a 3" downpipe at work soon, i was also thinking about desnorking and throwing in a k&n, when i gat my piggyback i will install the td04, i am hoping to delete the ac soon aswell...

what other things should i look at that are rather inexpensive horsepower mods, i would like to keep it safe and i am thinking between 220 and 260 hp at crank
boost control w/ gauge???
pulleys???

i test drove a 2005 legacy gt and it was quick, but i would rather beat one in a 93!!!

so i tee'd into the #1 runner vaccuum line, seems to work pretty well,

is this normal...?
18-20 vacuum at idle,
approx 8.5-9.5 at full boost
car is pretty much stock...
at full boost the needle shakes eratically around 9.5???

Thanks

Yup that sounds perfectly normal.

The shaky needle is weird, though. What kind of gauge do you have? If it's an AutoMeter then I'm not surprised.

the gauge is by acutec, i got it from my work and we use tyhem for pressure testing, it's probably pretty cheap but i tested to 30 psi w/ no leaks

thanks for your reply

Well if it's a cheap gauge, they tend to be shaky like that or read inaccurately. Many people go with VDO gauges (cheap in PRICE, but not in quality). I personally went with an AEM boost gauge. Expensive but it has a digital readout, is very accurate and is also an electronic boost controller.
They make a version that isn't the EBC, too.

Yup yup. It's a good brand of gauges.

Just stay away from anything that's AutoMeter lol.

today i unbolted my stock exhaust from the cat back, the muffler has holes in it and i want to replace, this guy at my work made up a titanium exhaust from cat back for his wrx that he had and took it off before he sold it. so he gave it to me to try and fit on my legacy, definitely not a bolt up however.... all that i need to do is make a strait piece of pipe and weld on two flanges to bolt up between the mid pipe and the exhaust pipe, should be simple and i will start on it tomorrow. the pipe will be 9.5 inches including flgs
