intercooler horsepower gain

ok guys i was wondering how much of a horsepower gain would get from intalling and 02 wrx intercooler on my 93 ss ? stock turbo
ej22t hybrid, 3.5" downpipe, Gl turbo intake/desnorkel 9psi DEAD

Unless you turn the boost up, probably very little to none.

I think you may actually feel something.

The rule of thumb I heard of is for every 10* you drop intake temps you gain 1% more HP.

On a FMIC I'd say you'd have a noticeable power difference, but I'm not sure how well a WRX TMIC will work to cool charge temps with the tiny SS scoop feeding it air.

rallysam's car felt significantly faster to me and him after we put that intercooler on his otherwise stock engine.

My results are a bit skuwed because I did a 3" TBE at the same time I did my Saab 900 TMIC.

But it did make a very noticable difference. Once I start turning up the boost I expect to see more.

It's once you start turning things up that you will see your biggest gain. I don't see anyway that it wouldn't be worth your time though, particularly if you plan to continue building your car.

i just installed the 06/07 wrx Top mount and i feel ALOT of difference.
i haven't even turned up the boost yet :wink:

but i also have a badass 2.5rs hoodscoop.

i think my gas mileage went down though because now i hear the turbo...and i like it alot :-D
