TMIC on ej22t '92

Post by TheUhrinator »

So, I have a '92 leggy with the ej22t engine. I would like to put on a TMI. What should I look for that would fit my car without any major modifications? I'm looking at getting the apexi boost controller and would like to have some extra cooling. I'm hoping to get just an air to air, if you think that this is going to be enough. Also, what else besides the intercooler and boost controller should I do? Any Help is appreciated, thanks.

Search for TMIC or intercooler, there's a ton of threads on it.

IIRC the 02-03 WRX intercooler fits with little modification, the 04-07 with a little more. And a lot of people use some sort of saab intercooler too

EDIT: got that backwards

How would the 05 STi intercooler fit / What would I have to do to make it fit?

it's kinda the other way around.

the sti intercooler is too large for your car.

02-05 wrx intercoolers fit but not well. 06-07 wrx and 07- forrester i/c's fit really nice.

do a turbo swap at the same time,. check it out, there's lots of write ups. 8)

Yes, a td04, td05, or vf39 are very commonly swapped into our cars -- when using a TMIC.

Another question that Dad has and I'm not positive about:
Do you have to do any extra tuning when putting an intercooler on? Simply, will the computer be messed up, or will it all go on no problem?

You should be good to go if you're running the stock turbo or a TD04, and stock or near-stock boost levels.

Yea, I am using the vf11 with a TMIC just fine. I have a TD04 but I still need all of the gaskets and stuff.
I am running 13psi on the TMIC'd VF11, walbro 255, 3" TBE, K&N. No problems related to any of that, but I have a leaky injector, time for the 440's! Just set ur boost at or under 13psi so you don't hit fuel cut (not a good feeling).

I have a top mount Intecooler that was in my legacy for sale. I believe it was from a 06 WRX. I just upgraded to a CXRACING FMIC. check out my pics for fitment.
