Tdo4L and stock TMIC on a 92' Legacy SS.. How much work?

I have a Stock Wrx Tdo4L, and Top Mount Intercooler with all the stock y piping. I am installing it on a 92 Legacy turbo 2.2t. I understand the intake side but I am wondering about the turbo to TMIC/manifold relation....So what needs to be modified to make this fit? .....I know everyone and there mother has done this; so help me out so I dont have to have my car apart for more than a few hours !!! I always like to have the right parts b4 the turbo gets ripped off...

You need a silicone y pipe for starters. Then you have to get a 2" outside diameter tubing aproximately 4" long. Cut the Y pipe to extend the part the goes to your turbo because with the EJ22T throttle body and 06-07 TMIC (I'm assuming you're using this one otherwise it will be more difficult) the Y pipe will not reach the turbo outlet. You will also need 4 hose clamps, preferably Tbolt clamps because you can clamp them much tighter than crappy regular hose clamps. Once you cut the Y pipe you use the 4" tubing to extend the pipe.

You also need to get a stock WRX bypass valve that goes on the intercooler or somehow plumb in the EJ22T bpv.

It's more work than you'd think and I wouldn't count on it only taking a couple hours and getting it all on your first shot.

I am a very highly qualified metal fabricator and custom jobber...so I can pull this off in a couple hours w/ the right parts easy....I will fit it to my 2.2t thats on the ground. That way I will b able to see everything better and finalize the install on my car...I figured the throttle body was tighter than a wrx( closer to the firewall ) and I guess I f%^*d up and didnt check the year of the TMIC. Is the 2002 bigger? Hope it fits..? I think I have 2002 parts, td04l and TMIC. Thanks for the help. I know this isnt the coolest build but whatever, I want more daily driver power! and how do I post my pics of my ride?

The 02-05 WRX TMIC hits the firewall I believe. It's a very tight fit and it hink you have to beat the firewall in a bit to make it work. I'm not sure exactly how but some people have gotten it to fit.

I realized i am an idiot and posted an intercooler question in the turbo section so sorry guyz....Guess I will have to say I F$$%D up when buying the TMIC, I wont use it if I have to bash my firewall. The reason I bought this car is it is super clean!!!!! Oh well I will work on posting pics and see if I can get this so-bitch 2 fit.....

So I just went to work on my project car to fit these items, the firewall does not hit, there is about 1/4 inch clearance. what does hit is the mount for the electronics. I can plasma cut the top of the mount and leave the tranny brace and it will slide right in....Although I am entertaining another idea altogether....

I found the 06 tmic to fit nicely and looked pretty nice.

So did you cut your clutch res down? An did you have the move the coolant tank? I'm about to start the intercooler project thanks for any input
