Anyone try this Y pipe?

Post by ericem »

Hey guys, I putting my car back to stage 2 with the IC and TD04 now I am looking at y pipes and it looks like this one would work perfectly and would only require shortening one end. I will be using the 06 IC. For the price seems like a good deal if it does indeed work perfectly.

Received my y pipe didn't look anything like the first pic :S For the price though definitely not complaining much better quality then my $90 y pipe the hoses seem alot thicker.

It is a samco one I am sure I can make it work. BSOD's setup had the same hose.

First time I did td04 and ic. It was a custom made hose no brand.

This intercooler from the forester fits nice, just I i need to fix the bpv. I thought I could make the stock forester bpv work but definitely not enough room. I just shoved a barbed fitting with a rubbe hose on it in the hole and it is DEFINITELY not sealing very well. Regardless the car pulls very decent! I love the car again at 8psi. Why no IC from the factory DAMMIT!!!

Going to use something to seal the hood scoop to the IC I think this will help greatly thinking of using a garage door seal.

Any ideas for the BPV? I was thinking a piece of flat plastic and somehow drilling a hole and threading a 3/4 in 90 elbow and just bolting it up to the ic with some high temp silicone between it.

Ill post more pics of how I did the y pipe and underneath the IC.

Hey ericem got any more detailed photos of the bpv? I was given a free intercooler from a buddy and wanted to know what was involved in making it work.

I added more pics

It is a very clean setup nothing is setup in a way that I wouldn't leave it long term other then the way the bpv is hooked to the IC. I will get a electrical plate cut it to shape make a hole and solder a copper 90. Should work fine.

Nice looking setup you got there. Wish that intercooler was available when I installed my WRX TMIC way back when, PIA that was. You didn't even have to change the A/C line either? And you got the WRX coolant tank to fit the stock location, job well done.

Oh forgot to add. DON'T use plastic pipes they will melt and swell and warp with heat. Also rerouted my coolant hose so there is no restriction and kinks.

Will add pics.
