2006 (late)-2008 Forester XT TMIC = 2006-2007 WRX TMIC

Post by wtdash »

I came across a picture of an '08 Forester XT (FXT) top mount intercooler:

And noticed it has the same up-turned BPV mount as the WRX - that is is the key when buying one as the earlier '04- early '06 FXT's BPV would hit the EJ22T's throttle cables (FXT is DBW so no cables to hit).

Checked on opposedforces.com and sure enough it's the same part number, too.

So, I'm updating my info that the late 2006 to 2008 FXT IC's are the same as the '06-07 WRX IC's and are another option for those installing a TMIC.

Do NOT buy the one like below-note the BPV bolt hole alignment and how it's flush w/the side of the IC:

ALWAYS GET A PIC of what you're buying to ensure it's the newer style!!

Can't complain about $10. I'll buy it right now off you for $15. PM me if you want to sell it.

If I wanted to use this intercooler with the stock vf11, would it work? Or is that just too much work?

You may be able to fab something up on the outlet piping, but it'd be tight if you could do it. Using a TD04 or similar turbo with the horizontal compressor outlet would likely be easier.
