Stockest looking IC setup?

Post by Ghost »

Weird question I know, but living in CA it needs to look OEM to pass smog visual inspection. A crooked IC jammed in, or lines floating are huge red flags. I also plan to go TD05 in the future.

So what do you guys suggest? I know half of it is how much work I put into the install, but I want to start from a good place with things that fit or nearly fit. Cost takes a back seat to stock appearance.

You'll want to source a slanty intercooler for the closest look to stock. Jdm ej20g intercooler, that is.

Yeah slant is good and probably easiest. There is a Saab intercooler many have used as well. I have an AWIC which is more work to set up but looks completely stock and the smog guys never even notice it. It even has a Subaru sticker on it. :)

I noticed you have to ditch your A/C for this setup. I rather not do that.

Any pics?

Is any of the JDM/EDM EJ20T AWIC equipment direct fit? I am intrigued by the idea because I can imagine most smog techs will take a look at it, decide they have no idea what it is and move on.

I had some, but the host has since disappeared and I lost all the photos, I'll see if I can dig them up or take some more and post them up for you.

that would do it, and be somewhat unique among turbo cars.
