TMIC and the Factory Scoop

Post by Benderama »

Alright I am going to be adding a TMIC really soon and would like your opinions on keeping the factory scoop. I will be wrapping my headers and up pipe with heat tape and eventually putting my turbo in a blanket. So what do you guys think? I have pulled the shroud and chimney and I will be using a 2007 WRX scoop.

You can use the factory one but yes the 2007 would serve better than the stock

IMHO, As important as a bigger scoop is the ducting to get air TO the TMIC. Look @ the splitters used on those that come w/the TMIC's, e.g. WRX, STi, Forester/OB XT, GT.

Does the splitter on the 2007 bolt on to our scoop? Or is it at least modify-able to get it to fit on our cars? If not is there a common solution to this issue?

Not sure.

Here's one option:

You'll need to Search on here and elsewhere for other ideas...I'm working on one, too. But may be a few weeks b4 it's ready to show.
