EDIT: PICS ALBUM: https://imgur.com/a/SnOuXAx (taken August 8th 2018)
EDIT: Changing my ask to $1500 CAD/$1150~ USD, the highest offer takes it at the end of the month. I don't have a place to store it without insurance so it needs to go asap! thanks
Since it's an EJ22T, and they're pretty hard to find with 135k KM's (84k Miles) on em I'm asking $1500 CAD/$1150~ USD (not firm, I'll take best offer)
hello!
I've got a 1992 Legacy SS with only 135k km (84k~ Miles) on the EJ22T engine in Langley BC Canada. I'm hoping to sell it to somebody who will fix it up or buy it for parts. It still drives perfectly fine (besides the turbo smoke) but there are a couple of jobs that need to be done (one pretty much immediately) and I'm at the point where I have to just get a new subaru, something closer to the current year.
When I was driving it the car was kept in great shape. Owned it since 82k, any maintenance that had to be done was done instantly, oil changed and checkup every 5k (sometimes less). its still a great car, I love it but I am a student and part time worker so I can't justify putting any more $ into it at the moment, really sad that I'm going to be letting her go. I will list the current problems below, a couple are pretty big jobs but I'm assuming anybody willing to buy this car knows what they're doing.
1. The head gasket is leaking. I've been driving it fine for awhile with the leak. You get some occasional feint white smoke coming out from under the hood from the burning oil. Just have to check oil levels every now and again and make sure it isn't getting worse. The gasket will have to be replaced eventually though.
2. The turbo died about a week ago. makes a very awkward noise and there is no boost. Also experiencing common turbo problems like excessive exhaust smoke, smoke from air intake. I believe its an IHI vf10 or 11. It only has 135k (84k miles) on it so it's really unfortunate that it failed. Look on the brightside, the car would be a monster with a newer model turbo anyways
smaller issues:
As this is a 26 year old car the body isn't in perfect shape (pics added at the top), it's not bad for the age but it has some bumps and scrapes. Passenger side turn light housing clips are snapped, Using double sided clear acrylic tape to keep it in place. A wrecker should have another light you would think. The sunroof works but the wiring is a little finicky. Sometimes the buttons won't work right away, they kinda just work when they want to. Sometimes you will get nice 3 month stretches where they always work, should just be a loose connection so nothing too big.
New Parts:
All weather tires just over a year old. brakes, rear struts, fuel pump and ignition switch are new.
I have an alpine deck and 4 Kicker speakers installed that I would leave in
Nothing less than 91 octane has ever been put into the car, the previous owner was my boss and a family friend and he assured me this as well.
That's about it. The turbo noise/smoke and lack of boost is the worst of it right now but if you fix'er up it's an amazing ride. excellent low end power and a great sleeper car.
Thanks for reading!
