Catatlytic Converter>>briquets

Post by wtdash »

I have a 'universal' CC, 3" In/Out, I bought online 2 years ago. It's directly behind a 3" bellmouth downpipe.

When I pulled off my exhaust I heard some rattling.

The below 'briquets' came out.....Uh, WTH?

Here's look inside to the back of the CC:

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Well now it's a super high flow cat lol

Honestly I'm not quite sure what that is, but wouldn't the screen have broke if it came from the cat

Break out the Weber, it's grilling time! It looks like the same issue that a friend and I ran into while working on a customer's 2001 Nissan Altima while working at his shop a few weeks ago. The car would bog down something fierce and we figured the (stock)cats to be clogged. Little did we know that one would be relatively easy to gut, while the other would be a solid nightmare that would require TONS of elbow grease and a few hours with a 1/2" hammer-drill to break all of this crap out. good news is that the car was fine after the operation and the only thing that we could figure this gunk to be was an amalgamation of blown-by oil and catalyst media. Nasty stuff.

So that's the rear screen in the picture or do they only have 1 on the inlet ? As if the rear screen dislodged and the ceramic fell out ?

That's Bananas, B A N A N A S :smt119

I was gonna buy the same one , but think I will get the spun style instead.

Not sure where the screen is/how many it has. I need to remove the CC from the rest of the exhaust to see the other end.
