I need an exhaust leak fix.

Post by coffeeman885 »

This is to all my ghetto-fabricating brethren. I need to fix my exhaust leak. The flange(s) at the axleback section of my exhaust are warped which leaks and makes my car sound like it is about to sneeze during acceleration. I know that I could cut off the flanges and weld on new ones or just cut them off and weld the whole thing together - I don't want to do that. Right now I have two gaskets in there and put new bolts in and torqued the hell out of them. It helped but still no cigar. Any ideas on how I can fill the gap. It is leaking out the top and bottom of the flanges.

I did get to hear my unadulterated Magnaflow muffler for about a minute after I installed it. It sounded good. Now it just sounds kinda sick - like it has a cold.

just weld the flanges together, no need to take anything apart, weld the seam and the bolt holes..
