Up-pipe and UEL help....

Post by devilzdriver »

Well gang the time has come, i got my exhaust mani all cleaned up, and i am finally really to install it along with my GS up-pipe that cost me 40$ :D my question is. HOW HORRIBLE IS THIS GOING TO BE? i already have my DP off because i needed to do some measurements, if i take my UEL header off whats holing my turbo in place? i keep reading about having to lift the engine, and well i have an aftermarket up-pipe that's cracked hence the replacement. i have been soaking ALL OF THE BOLTS in PB blaster, i have MAP gas torch also. I have searched but alot of the posts say to take it to a pro?

So in short...

1.) What are the tq. specs for exhaust mani and x pipe?
2.) do i need to lift my engine?
3.) what are some things i should have available tools or things of that nature
4.) And is their any tips and tricks from you guys?

THANK YOU LEGACYCENTRAL! YOU ALL HAVE HELPED SO MUCH!

There is a bracket that holds the turbo. Removing the stock up pipe with the shields in place requires lifting the engine a little bit. If you go back with an aftermarket or up pipe that doesn't have the shielding, you can usually get it in without jacking up the engine.

As for torque specs, you can d/l the service manual from me. The linke is in the stuff you need to know forum.
