Does anyone know how hot the exhaust manifold can get on an EJ22t? want to coat it but not sure what to use since I don't know what the max temp is.

I dont think there is a spec for it, but exhaust gas temps can exceed 1300F. No idea how much transfers to the manifolds but it is possible to make them glow red, which means they at least reach 1000F under hard use. I know some manifold paints are good to 1200F. They may or may not hold up depending on how you drive. If its just a DD you may be fine, but I dont know any competitive drivers (even weekend drag racers or autoXers) who bother with manifold paint, they only car about trapping the heat with wrap or ceramic coating.

I have an EGT gauge installed on cylinder 3, have had it for several years now. exhaust temperatures are regularly around 1400*F and under boost can approach 1600*F.

Just to clarify, exhaust manifold temps will be lower than actual exhaust gas temperatures. If you can find something that withstands 1,500 - 2,000 deg F that should be more than adequate.

I have a set of jdm ej20G manifolds that are ported and ceramicoated for sale in the parts shed if you want a cheap upgrade.
