Does this replace the entire Stock ECU?

Heads, valves, pistons, rods, crankshaft, etc...

Interesting......looks like it would replace the stock ECU.

Without knowing about the maps & such.....I don't know if it'd be such a good idea.

main reason that comes to mind. If it's set to run on the higher octane gas in japan. You'll most likely get detonation by running that ECU & our lower octane gas.

So you think its only a stock Legacy turbo ECU pulled from a JDM model?

Didn't the JDM Legacy turbos have a different engine (EJ20T)?

Yes,

There were two variants. EJ20 n/a, & an EJ20T

You can read about the three variants for the introduction of the Legacy platform in the SAE article on my site or dave's.

The biggest problem with this running a US spec Turbo legacy would be fitting four separate coils on to the US engine.

I have one JDM ECU in hand but does anyone knows that the wire harness are different?
I have a ej20g into my car for about half year ago and running with US ECU since have not enough information on the wiring on the JDM ecu.
The mechanic who did some magic on the engine, he use the old coil pack to the engine without any problems.
But I still like to put the JDM ecu to make the car run more power.

Does anyone has the JDM wiring diagram that could compair the US ECU wiring?

Thanks for help!

Cobb Tuning will be introducing the ability to reporogram and and all Subaru ECUs in the near future, including ours. Things such as the rev limit, speed limiter, boost and fuel/air setting will be able to be changed by them, in house.

I'll let you all know if/when i find out more.

Josh...its quite easy..same basic technologyu the Japanese firms use to do their ecu's (from companies like Mine's and Prova). The hard part is cracking the ecu coding, from there, they are effectively interpretting data from datalogs, IPW, etc to determine their effective best guess as to what timing and fuel curves to input relative to load (MAP and MAF signal) and RPM. Using the datalogging, they know if they went to far, or if they are spot on.

We are considering becoming a vendor for this firm as well (EcuTek), but are not sure yet. However, we are working with Turbo XS on doing a legacy Turbo specific Unichip, which, given the lack of OBD2 should work vey nicely.

Let us know if a unichip becomes available for the OBD1 cars.

Will do. In my searches already, there are Unichips available for the Liberty RS's BC/BF style, so I would bet dollars to donuts the pinouts of the ecu are the same (and also probably the same for '94-'96 WRX's too)
