Swapped in the 440 cc injectors....

Post by douglas vincent »

God only knows how long they had been sitting in that old twin turbo block!

I had "cleaned" them with break fluid cleaner when I installed them in the rails. The passenger side rails were filled with white gunk, since they had filled with water at the junkyard. Seemed to clean up fine....

Swapped out the fuel rails with just a few curse words, mainly due to dropped parts. Turned the key on and let the fuel pressure build and turned the key.

Purrrrrrrrrrrr.

WTF!?!?!

It runs and drives perfect?

At this stage it doesnt make sense as I am now running injectors rated 163% larger than ecu is designed for! The only explanation I could have for now is that the intake from the MAF isnt tight as I damaged the T-Bolt and need a new one. So if I am sucking in air, just a tad, that isnt being read by the MAF, and it balances out the larger fuel flow.

Either that or they arent 440 cc injectors.

More info tommorrow.

What engine were they from? There's like three different gray injectors, 340, 360, and 380 IIRC. If I find the site again I'll post the part numbers.

Twin turbo 2.0 JDM. thats all I know. For whatever reason I do not remember where I read they were 440 cc?

The heads on the block were shim and hydraulic lifters.

Hydraulic = H and G only. And H was the Twin. H's came with 380cc's.

Yellows are 444cc or something.

doing some of the cc/division = max hp, 380 cc injectors are good for 308 hp.....

I guess I will invest in upgrading my rrfpr to a 3-1 ratio. Cheap safety....

Hey, I was wrong with the cc's. Dunno what I was remembering.

http://homepage1.nifty.com/BG5A59D/tips/injector.html

(This site has so much damn info, crazy stuff too, like an cut up RS-RA engine)

430, 444 and 480. Yellows are 480.

Also, H's only went to 260PS about 256hp with the shim over bucket. HLA was 250PS about 246hp. So I'd guess you have the 430cc injectors.

Mine are grey top.

So I am going to give them a 380-430cc maybe I don't know rating!

there are numbers on the injectors themselves. I guess I will pull one out and google it.

I am very very happy with my injectors right now. By adding a little fuel, I am at 11.2 -1 AFR on the dyno up to 6500 rpm
