fuel pressure

Post by georryan »

So what should our fuel pressure be? I just got a pressure gauge that reads to 100 psi and I want to test and see if my pressure regulator is going out, but I'm not sure what the pressure should be. Does anyone know?

At Idle I think it should be about 26-30 PSI.

So if I rev up the engine should hte psi go up? Cause it goes up slightly and then drops back down to the idle almost right away, even if I'm sitting at 3k-4k rpms.

Also I'm sitting at 31 psi at idle. Granted, this is with my car acting fine, I want to get it to act up and then see what it is doing.

it should stay constant, the slight increase is nothing to be worried about.

Fourth paragraph.

Your fuel pressure is based upon engine vacuum. If your vacuum at idle and 3-4k is similar, then fuel pressure should be similar.

Yeah, the wires you speak of aren't the problem. I've already routed them around that connector. If they were the problem my car would die, not sputter.

I have about 31 psig at idle, 41 without the vacuum line connected on the fuel pressure regulator. I wish my car would act up again so I could see what it was doing then. I also wish I was able to bring that fuel pressure gauge into the cab of the car, but I sappose that isn't very safe.

Shim the hood up and tape the gauge to the outside of your windshield.
