Was there an EGR system in the 90-94 N/A EJ22?

Didn't think so.

Another question: Do you guys honestly think it's terribly important, other than for emissions? I have this guy on SLi trying to rain fire and brimstone down upon me, saying that if you disconnect them, you'll fry the engine.

I'm not really going to disconnect it, I'd just assume leave it as it really probably doesn't hurt mileage or performance, but this guy is pissing me off with his superior attitude.

Looks like it's primarily emissions. If the car didn't have a good O2 sensor and poor knock tolerance, it might have an effect. The recirculation lowers the peak combustion temperature by removing some oxygen. Probably lowers horsepower too because of that.

There are positives and negatives given on that page.
