Need wiring diagram for 1991 turbo legacy

Post by boostjunkie »

I have a wiring diagram, as well as the Haynes manual, but the wires shown don't seem to be right.

Does anyone have another set of ecu pinouts for a 1991 turbo legacy? Specifically, I need the O2 sensor wire.

Thanks,

Jason

According to all the information I have, it's pin 6 on the 22-pin connector.

Let me give you some hints on finding that pin:

Right before it are the MAP sensor lines: pin 3 is MAP power, pin 4 is MAP signal, and pin 5 is MAP ground. These three pins will probably all go into a shielded gray cable of some type.

The top row of the connector is pins 1 through 11, and the bottom row is 12 through 22, so the 1 lines up with the 12, the 2 with the 13, and so on. The top row has a wire in every pin except pin 1.

The ground for the oxygen sensor is pin 17 on the same connector. There should be nothing in pin 16 or 18.

Hope that helps... Let us know if this information is accurate.

Thanks vrg3. It was no 6.

Now do you know where I'd tap an ignition wire for a turbo timer?

Hmm, wow, it's been a looong time since I did a turbo timer install on a Legacy Turbo... I don't remember exactly what I did, but I do remember that it was pretty easy; took me about half an hour to mount it inside the ashtray and do the wiring.

I think I just used a simple voltage tester (like http://doitbest.com/shop/product.asp?mb ... sku=581212) and checked each wire coming off the ignition switch at each igniton position. You shouldn't have a hard time figuring out which is which; just look for the one that's on only when the key is in the "ON" position.

One thing I have to say, even though you probably know it already, is that I really strongly suggest avoiding the temptingly easy-to-install Scotch-Lock style connectors (like http://www.globelectric.com/13.html). They're simply not going to give you good strong connections, and are prone to failure. You really, really, should strip away a little insulation, twist your new wire in with the existing wire, solder them in place, and insulate it with electrical tape and/or heat shrink.

Cool thanks. I was able to find the switch connector from the Haynes manual. Everything's all set.

Now I just hafta figure out how to use the timer. It's a blitz DTT DC . . . do you know how to use the auto features of it?

No idea... I had installed a pretty plain and simple HKS timer. I haven't touched a turbo timer since, since my current car's a stickshift and I can't see leaving my car parked out of gear (the old car was an automatic).

I was able to figure out the features. Guess and check always works :D

BTW, did you ever get that ecu on Friday?

HEY! You're 2.5GT from NASIOC!

I did go to the yard... Thanks for the tip. That poor car was soooo stripped.

The ECU was long gone. All the turbo parts were gone, too, so I suspect someone who knew what he/she was doing took the ECU and turbo parts to turbocharge another Subaru.

I did get a Diamond coil pack and a new headlight to replace my fogged up one, and my brother got some cool stuff for his Mk2 Supra. The coil pack will be up for grabs, but subylvr2212 has dibs since I know he needs one.

It's an interesting yard... They seem a little less friendly than what I'm used to up here in Horseheads, NY, but a u-pull yard is always good. If you're ever up near Corning/Elmira/Horseheads, you should check out Horseheads Pick-a-Part. They put every car up on jackstands for you, with plenty of space around the car, and can look up the location of any particular car on their yard for you in their computer. Their prices are really really good, too.

Hehe, yup that's me :D Changed my name on here. The other handle didn't seem appropriate anymore

That sucks you weren't able to get the ecu. I know the last time I saw the car it had only been stripped of the rear brakes and lsd. Oh yeah, and three struts (I needed to take those to get the car to pass inspection).

At least the trip wasn't wasted. There was a 280z in the back of the lot. The body looked intact . . . wouldn't mind building that thing up for an autocross car.

I would like to check out another u-pull-it yard. But lemme wait till I get some money to actually buy some stuff
