Well, During the process of taking apart my engine I noticed a rattle noise when Ever I would turn the engine on the stand over...

It belongs to #4 so can I just pull the ring out of the piston, slide the piston out and screw this back in??

If one fell out the others may be loose too, if it were me I think I would deal with all four. Get the threads clean and dry and put them in with some loc-tite. When those things come out they rob a lot of oil from the crank and rods.

I was gonna get a flexy wrench on the others and see if they need tightened..

but other than that I'm Just gonna pull piston four and lock tite this sob in there... Cause I don't wanna deal with rings...

its a spray nozzle that is designed to cool the piston, with oil... And the nozzle fell out.

This happens a lot. I've heard of it before. Mine were all in somehow when I checked them.
Some people just take them out and cap the holes when they rebuild their engines because they think that the squirters will just fall out anyway and don't really do anything.

I dunno, I just kept mine. They seem like a good thing... so unscientific but meh.

Well, I'm pulling piston Four and I'm gonna locktite this one back in and if piston four goes well, I might check the rest of them...

To Tell you the truth I said the same thing... but I had heard about the nozzles before. so I got out the laptop with the service manuals and discovered were they belong, My question is should I put new rings on this piston when I Pull it or should I just compress em and throw it together

I pulled 3 ej22t's apart recently & 1 (with just 117k) had a oil squirter in the oil pan.
So from my very limited experience it happened on 1/3 or 33% of the motors taken apart.

Wouldn't they get clogged up pretty easily?

Hopefully your oil filter would catch any debris that could clog the oil squirter. If there is something big enough to clog that then you will have problems with other parts of your engine like lifters for one!

Well tomorrow I start reassembly with a little bit of dissasembly first.. I'm gonna take the flywheel off and pull piston four and put the sprayer back in...
