rod knock, 22 block or 25d motor?

Post by bmxkelowna »

so my black 93 daily has rod knock after a night of cyclones
at the local wrecker here there is a ej22t and also a ej25d from a legacy gt

now my question is should i buy the 22t block for 135 or buy the 25d block and heads for 165?

i know the comp ratio is a lot higher so id keep the stock turbo and keep the boost low

has any one else run the 25d motor on 22t ecu?

I would just put a EJ22T back in.

93 silver TW 5 speed... rebuilt 22T with 20G heads, wrx ra drivetrain, otherwise stock.

Yep, EJ22t. The 25D doesn't have a good reputation when turboed.

Indeed, given the option I would use that engine in any car. I have an EJ25D in my Outback and, while it's quite a good engine so far, I don't trust it like I did my 22T.
