93 Legacy gas cap?

Post by icrman »

So it looks like its vented. So is the tank pressurized or vacuum on these cars? It seemed like a vacuum the other day with original cap and today pressure with new after market cap. It was running like fuel starvation a few days ago. There just isn't much info about this any place. I'm thinking the cap allows air in the tank but not out.

The caps work like any other gas cap, the cap prevents vacuum by letting air in when vacuum develops in the tank. The FSM states this; check out page 20 of 336.

If you were having vacuum issues then the old cap might be bad.

Yeah that is normal, just never know about these things. The pump would be fighting a vacuum.
