Install Passenger turbo head only??

Since this is not a bash 'em site, hopefully y'all won't flame too much......

Can I install the EJ22T PASSENGER cylinder head ONLY on an otherwise stock EJ22e ('92 to be exact). I want the ease/convenience of the coolant/oil line access for an NA-T build. I can buy the passenger head cheap, which is why I ask.

For reference, I did put both EJ22T heads on a EJ22E w/the EJ22T head gasket and it ran fine - but only ran it on the VF11's 5 psi wastegate boost.

Thanks
TD

Physically it will work, but you'll only have 1 turbo cam. Also, I believe the turbo heads have smaller valves on the exhaust. I can only speculate what running an unbalanced motor like that would be like.

I would agree with Mike in that physically you can do it, however there are some differences in the cam and valves that I don't think would lend itself to a balanced motor.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep looking for both turbo heads.

Hey TD... IDK if you will see this or reply or whatever but on your ej22e block with the 22t heads, were the 22e internals completely stock?

HI,
Yes, stock.

There are many tales of turbos on the stock EJ22e spread around this site and online.

I never got this project off the ground, but as noted did an earlier one here: https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/to ... bocharged/

That car was bought by a self-proclaimed 'hoonigan' who popped the HG and then drove into the ditch on another unintended off-road adventure.
