Head gaskets 2.2l
I have a blown head gasket on my 1996 Subaru legacy outback 2.2l engine, i went to my local parts store and asked for a fel pro mls head gasket and the guy looked it up and said sorry they dont make any for that year of car. So i went on line and tried to find a six star or fel pro and did not find one. Can any one shed some light on this?

Re: Head gaskets 2.2l
Felpro only lists a graphite gasket for the older NA ej22e's. If you need an MLS gasket, the felpro ej22t is what you're after.
Note that the graphite gaskets are tolerant of an imperfect mating surface, while the MLS gaskets are not.
Also know that both the ej22e and ej22t came with graphite gaskets from the factory, and neither engine was known for blowing them, unless you drove around without coolant or something similar.

The older ej22e and the newer ej22e take the same head gasket, yes. Same part number I believe
Note that 99 and newer ej22's are not an ej22e anymore and use a different gasket.
