I think I’ve figured out what I need to do, which is to replace the header with something newer that’s more compatible with modern universal cats. The muffler is totally rusted through but that should be pretty easy to replace. Then both cats I’ll just replace with universal ones.

Yeah, the non turbo exhaust has changed designs over the years a bit. Your best bet is either to try and find a complete exhaust setup from a newer non-turbo engine and/or piece things together with universal fit stuff and muffler/exhaust shop customizing something.

The only real constraint is the O2 sensor and it's just a narrow band O2 sensor.
