The stuffer sway bars are uncovering the weaknesses in the rest of the suspension. I do think it's normal for these older cars to squeek a bit. One thing I did was put on a front strut bar, and that cured a lot of front end creek.

I was recently cleaning the garage and came across everything necessary to add a rear sway on our 93L, except courage to tackle those long lateral link bolts. I have air tools. What can go wrong?

The worst that happens is you snap that long bolt and need to get a new one. I would soak that bolt and the one on the rear subframe with PB blaster for several days and then give it a shot.

Ohhhhhh boy you guys, so I think I have a problem with the new sway bar: I'm pretty sure it's rubbing against the exhaust before the bend to the muffler, what did I do wrong?

I haven't looked at mine in a while, but is it physically possible to install it backwards? Or, and more likely scenario, are the exhaust hanger rubber pieces all there and not stretched out too low?

I don't even know HOW I could install in backwards, but the exhaust hangers a practically new, I replaced them with OEM about 20k ago. And the sway bar is resting ON TOP of the exhaust pipe, not the bottom; if that helps in anyway of knowing if I put it on backwards..

Just took a few snaps of mine. I have different style drop links from you, but the swaybar shape and fitment is the same. Orientation your bar will be the same as mine too.

I just wanted to add to sway bar sizes. Air ride has 18mm fronts (at least the two that I came across) but the rears are 19mm. Which currently I'm sporting on both my 90 and my wife's 92 wagon.

Edit: I just measured my rear one and it's 18mm sorry for the bad info.
Rear non turbo wagons 90-91 are 16mm.

So I fixed my problem, and what everyone to know for future reff.
The sway bar I picked up was from a ('97?) subaru legacy outback, the 18 size. And I also took the mounts from that car as well. BE AWARE, these nights are an inch or so taller, so they make the sway bar hang VERY low to the exhaust. For me, it started to rub on the exhaust. I ended up removing the exhaust and banging on the hangers, and that fixed the problem for the most part. Another Idea is off they rub together, buying some different rubber exhaust hangers would probably also help.

As for the bars, 18 and 18 (front and back) is very nice, but could use more over-steer; it still likes to plow every corner. For everyday street driving, it's excellent, but for autox and the like, it feels a bit lacking. In the future I will probably update to a whiteline bar.
