BG5 GTB Bilstein suspension

Post by MrWeedster »

Im wondering if the bilsteins from a bg5 legacy will be a good upgrade for a bf legacy.

Im thinking about to get the bilstein struts and some lowering springs suitable for my bf legacy.

What im wondering is that i didnt find any information regarding this topic on the popular legacy sites/forums.

Is this a impossible swap or is something likely to not fit?

I don't see why it wouldn't fit with the right top hats. Its probably not mentioned because the BG Bilstein suspension is very rare in the states.

They should work great with the appropriate rear tophats and springs for the weight of car. The Bilsteins will most likely be in need of a rebuild at this point however.

Ok, so my route to go would be to use the rebuilt bilsteins with the springs and tophats from my now installed oem suspension, right?

Not necessarily, if you have an awesome suspension setup like bilsteins, you'll want to use their springs too. the whole setup is pretty badass from what i've read. you'll want to use the struts springs and the rear upper pirches if they're seperable and which ever tophats to make it all work. It all depends on the top of the rear springs. if you can get a photograph, we'll be able to guide you in the right direction as to what you need for the rear.

The thing about the Bilstein stock springs is they are sprung for a heavy turbo motor in the front, so your car'd be high in the front and normal in the back. Well, worse than stock springs at least.

Well i have a turbo wagon so it could work with the weight.

I have pix from the bilsteins now, maybe someone can tell if they could happen to fit.

Those will fit. As I mentioned, rear top hats must be changed.
