GC8 Sti aluminum control arms +wrx sway bar?

Post by Chrisg03 »

If you were to fit some aluminum control arms from a GC8 sti on a 94 legacy wagon will the front sway bar off a GD wrx be a direct bolt on? i ask bc i have read somewhere on here that they dont fit due to the gd having a wider track

The 02 WRX Wagon front bar is the one that fits our cars so I imagine it's the same thing with the GC arms. Wagon only and 02 only for the 20mm bar that fits.

A bar for a turbo car won't fit on a non-turbo.

I think the stock bar will work fine, but you will want to get some new front endlinks and possibly some spacers to take up any gap.

Sorry, I assumed it was a turbo legacy.

Only the GD sedans have the wider track up front.

Crap i keep missing details the sway bars are from an 06 wrx sedan ...so will it work with the gc8 control arms or do i need newer Sti ones? i believe those require a bit of grinding but its not a problem i just need a few options for the best solution .. thanks guys

Get a 02 WRX wagon front bar. Bolts right up and it's 2mm larger in diameter than stock turbo legacy. The best part is they can be had all day on NASIOC and craigslist for $20-$30 or maybe even free.

Dear all,

I am newbie here and from Malaysia, source for info on my Legacy 1990/1 BC is limited and this forum has been my reference for quite some time.

I am keen on buying from ebay the aluminium lower arm bar. I found a GC8 set, will this fit my car. What other year or model can fit as well?

BTW the car has 2.0 turbo engine.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

STi style endlinks (swivel style) are necessary to run the JDM control arms which only have one tab to mount the endlink to vs 2 tabs that sandwich the stock turbo Legacy type endlink. Then I really don't see a reason why you couldn't run any turbo sway bar.

On my RS, I am using the turbo Legacy cross member with JDM control arms, STI endlinks, STi 24mm FSB and the correct whiteline FSB bushing for the cross member (GD+ have the two plot clamp on the bushing vs tab and bolt like the older Legacy).
