03 wrx spring and struts on a 92 legacy ss

Post by oldbugeye »

So I picked up some bug eye sedan struts and Springs. I have a 92 legacy ss. I can't find a picture of someone with the same setup. My questions are
1. Will it have the saggy rear end?
2. Do I have modify anything or can I just bolt them in?
3. How much will they change ride hight?

1. Yes most likely
2. Yes, check the suspension "sticky" at the top of the suspension forum
3. Yes, front was a little lower than stock, but the ass end height was way off and uneven. Sedan rear springs was too low for me, and wagon rears were too high. YMMV

Depending on how long I keep my car, a 92 sedan, I'm thinking about getting 1st generation legacy specific H&R lowering springs. A friend has them on his sedan and they look even and really good.

I think they're around $250 or so.

Unless you drill which is not advised, which is what I did, or should I say my helper at the time started drilling without my consent....so far so good, but I wish I didnt honestly, didn't know any better at the time and I had no $$...

So I have wrx wagon 06 struts assemblies on all four wheels, had to put spacers on the ass end, not enough that the strut mounts bolts allowed me to have an evenly leveled car but close enough and over time it leveled it self pretty much perfectly.

My car has way stiffer suspensions then original, which is nice, but a bit of a happy tail, which is not a biggy, but it is more of a drifter now lol, I still can drive and corner faster and better than with original equipment.

I would still stick with Legacy parts if I had to do it again regardless...

...or read Jamal thread about suspension carefully!:)

I had this setup on my rally car for about a year. I would recommend swapping out your rear legacy top hats onto the WRX stuff and not drill, but that's just my suggestion. this front will bolt on without mods. Other then that, the car sat level. . Handled way nicer and the springs feel good and not to bouncy. Although probably 3/4 of an inch higher then stock. But keep in mind, my car is stripped down but also has a cage in it , so I don't know how much more or less it weighs then a stock trim car.

In the first post of this thread I have pictures with my WRX spring strut as my "before" picture. The floor isn't flat in the picture, but I can assure that it sat level on the road.
