QUESTION: I know that the first gen turbo legacy's have a quick ratio steering rack but do the N/A cars have the same "quick ratio" rack or are they completely different ratios?

I noticed a little slop in my steering wheel leaving a buddys house the other night. It got alot worse over the last two days so I climbed underneath to take a peek. It appears my steering rack bushings/mounts completely disintegrated and no longer exist....Oh ya and it's shooting fluid out of both ends now all of a sudden.

According to the parts book all the 90-92 Legacies (turbo & non-turbo) have the same part number, while all the 93-94 legacies (turbo & non-turbo) have the same part number. There is no differentiation between turbo & non-turbo. I couldn't tell you though what is different between the 90-92 & 93-94 steering racks.

The 1st gens have a 16:1 rack, the only cars noticeably slower are foresters and outbacks!

I seem to recall reading that the 1st gen Legacy ad the fastest rack available in North America until the '04 STI.

It has the same rack ratios 1st gen imprezas. 2nd gen legacy and non-sti imprezas have a 16.5:1 rack, but I couldn't feel a difference.
