1991 legacy L fwd

Post by heyitzdinny » Tue Nov 20, 2018 8:20 pm

i tried to read through the sticky posts. i have no clue and understand alot of the posts. i understand the rear fwd is different from the awd. Im looking to replace all four springs, what are some inexpensive set of springs that will work with the stock setup?

would the 02-07 impreza springs be okay without any modification done?

The front springs fit fine, the rears may or may not need different top hats than what you have.

Subaru made two types of springs for those years, either tapered or non tapered. 1990-1991 Legacy had one type, 1992-1994 had the other.

Same thing as the 2nd gen Impreza, 02-03 was one style, 04-07 was the other.

So the way it works is if you have tapered springs on your 91 (I don't remember what 90-91 has), grab the impreza springs that have tapered tops.

The stickies should illuminate what years have tapered and non tapered.

After you've installed the springs and driven around a few miles to let the suspension settle, the ass end of the car will be noticeably lower than the front. You can measure the wheel gap to see how thick of a "saggy butt spacer" you need.
