1991 AWD to 1990 fwd strut swap, not the same!!!

Post by paf »

I had decided to swap the struts from my 1991 L wagon AWD (parts car) to my 1990 legacy fwd, well I took off the left rear strut on the parts car, was quite easy(i left the springs and strutmounts on) and on my first attemot to remove the bolts on the bottom I brok a ratchet, bent a pipe and broke an extension bar, so I gave up.
I attempted to do it again today and I failed again, I decided to goto a shop so they can at least do thet corner for me. 66 WASTED DOLLARS later, It doesnt fit, on the bottom where the bolt holes are in the 1991 it exetends even lower but not in the fwd.

But we already knew this, I remember a couple people posting about length between the FWD and the AWD.

Yes,

The rear struts on the FWD models have a longer strut body.
