valve body

Post by zeke »

so i got done with the rebuild but now i have a whole nother mess of problems the car would not shift on its own and 3rd and 4th were working intermittently so i pulled the valve body off to make sure nothing was stuck everything looked good in it still so i put it back together and now 1st gear is no longer working and the rest of the gears are but shifting very erratically pulled the trans code and am now getting shift solenoid 1 and 3 codes its a 91 ss i was thinking my valve body might just be screwed up i was thinking about just finding another valve body to swap into that has not been modified like mine and see if it will just work but i dont know if there is any difference in the NA and the turbo valve bodies was wondering if anyone had any input if they are the same

Have you checked your wiring for continuity between the TCU and transmission and the transmission wiring? What about testing the shift solenoids?

As for whether the valve bodies are the same between the turbo & non-turbo, I'm not sure but you could d/l the parts catalog and check part #'s between the turbo & non-turbo transmissions.
