91 automatic torque binding

Post by big12gage »

Torque binding!! So should I just replace the solenoid in the back of the trans? Or should I just rebuild it (it's got 240k on it) or swap it out with a different auto. She is my work vehicle and my daily... Just need some opinions now. I want to replace it myself but it looks like a pain bc I'd be laying under the car. Thoughts on this? I hate feeling that suddering from the damn torque bind

Have you made a decision on which route you want to go?

I think it really depends on how much work you want to do, how much you want to spend, and down time.

Replacing the transmission with a lower mileage may be the most simple thing. Rebuilding really requires a good knowledge of the transmission and based on feedback over the years I've heard of people that have not been happy with their rebuild. Plus your down time will likely be more.
