Doing an auto to manual swap on a 93 ss...got a trans crossmember from another 93 but my car doesn't have the 2 furthest front bolts drilled...theres holes but they are further apart than the member and are untapped??? Anyone else?

They should be concealed under plugs. The thread size of the 17mm bolts that go there is: M12x1.5mm. I'm cleaning up mine due to going "full send it" last time.

Edit, not sure about the size.

Yea gonna check here soon...its a greasy, oily mess so I'll scrap some off. Is there another hole also in that same area with no plug?

I'm working under my 98 impreza wagon right now. You can see how close it is to the rear bolt on the control arm

Got it! Made some good progress. Caps were concealed by lots of gunk! Almost got my trans in and hooked up. 4.44 ra.

So I just checked the bolts for my old 98 outback, it's thread pitch for those was M12x1.25. So either the 98 Outback and 98 Impreza have different pitch (unlikely) or I had some wierd bolts that I just installed (most likely). As you can see from the pic, I helicoiled the holes since the threads were shot.

You got this! The swapping to manual alone is badass, but going with an RA trans? Be ready for brutal acceleration and terrible fuel economy, at least till you get used to it. :)

Haha, no it's not that bad. It's around 3k rpm for 60mph.

One comment I'll make, is with out a dccd controller installed, and due to the rear bias, this is the most dangerous Subaru trans I've ran. Absolutely no traction in the snow, ice and rain since the center diff is 100% open without a controller. In other words, super fun. But terrible traction.
