DIY RHD Power Steering Lines

Post by Sublimejoe »

Ok, so there are a few threads around that serve as a walk through to make your own power steering lines, however none of them are RHD specific. Figured I would write this up so people can avoid buying the wrong shit three times like I did.

This is the thread I originally found, which has a ton of great info, but really only applies to LHD cars:

https://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t18508 ... lines.html

It seems there are at least a few ways to do this. Using this setup requires you to use a rubber hose between the rack & pump for low pressure line.

On my setup I eliminated the hose barbed fitting on the rack side, and instead had a shop make me a rubber hose that had no fitting on one end, and a -6 AN female fitting on the other end. I haven't been able to find an 'off the shelf' option for that hose. Maybe I can update later if someone sees one.

Fitting Sizes:

Rack High Pressure - Male 14mm x 1.5
Rack Low Pressure - Male 16mm x 1.5
Pump High Pressure - Male 14mm x 1.5
Pump Low Pressure - 3/8" Barb

Fittings Needed:

Rack High Pressure - Male 14mm x 1.5 to male -6n https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear- ... /overview/ $8.97

Rack Low Pressure - Male 16mm x 1.5 to male -6n https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear- ... /overview/ $8.97
Female -6 AN to 3/8" Barb https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum- ... /overview/ $4.99

Pump High Pressure - Male 14x1.5 to -6n male https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear- ... /overview/ $8.97

Hoses Needed:

Pump to Rack (High Pressure) - 42" female -6n to female -6n https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fra-372042/overview/
Pump to Rack (Low Pressure) - 3/8" rubber hose https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fra-733006/overview/

Yessir! I will compile and label the photos I have, then get them uploaded.

Also, I’m happy to report the lines work perfect and don’t even whine!
