Tire suggestions for lift????

Post by s2baru »

I'm currently putting a 2inch strut spacer to "lift" the body for this upcoming winter.
Question is what are some of you running for all-terrain/winter package????
Trying to keep cost under 350$
Current size is 195/60r15 on stock 15x6.5 +55
New rims are 15x7.5 +43 thinking to go 215/70 or 205

General altimax looks affordable and good tread? Thought s?
Thanks.

Welcome to the BBS!

I unfortunately don't have any specific feedback on tires, but you may also want to check on the USMB as there tends to be more people with lifted subies over there.

What struts do you have equipped? This will be the biggest factor in determining how big you can go tire wise. I highly recommend the general grabber at2, if you can fit them. Smallest size they come in 15" is 205/75r15s and they barely clear with 1st gen forester struts. No chance they'll clear regular legacy struts. I just barely had enough room for worn out 205/70r15 on stock 97 L struts.

Thanks guys. Struts right now are kybgr2s iirc. I'm going to find someone on my local forum with a forester to test fit a 205/70 to see or 205/65 how the clearance will be

I have a 98 Forester, the 205/70r15 is stock size for it. I'm assuming the kyb's you have are stock fitment got your car, you can fit the 205/65r15s with enough room to be safe. They are probably the biggest I would run personally, those 205/70r15s I ran were entirely too close for comfort. I only used them for about 2 days until the tires I'd order for my 2.5rs 16's wheels came in.
