Hello guys i just had a quick question i dont want to sound dumb but id rather sound dumb than to make a mistake due to an unanswered question. I recently installed some OEM 225/45/17 OEM wheel off a 2010 Wrx and i was just wondering if anyone knew whether or not im safe running them as is or do they need a hubcentric ring? i didnt feel much play when i installed the but i just want to make sure

Since it is a Subaru rim you shouldn't have an issue. My question would be how are you not rubbing with 225?

All Subarus have the same center bore so you are fine. But since we have tapered lugs being hub centric isn't actually super important. Tightening the lugs evenly and to spec will center the wheel. Cars with the flat washer type lugs are a different story.

i do rub a bit very very slightly on the outer underside of the fender in the front however ive removed them twice already to check for clearance and i dont see any rubbing on the struts or anywhere else even tho on decel i do hear a bit of humming

Have you checked the rear to see if they are rubbing? I would suspect you'd have more rubbing back there.

I had 225s on my 1st gen, I did have to roll the fenders slightly all around, plus I had newer impreza struts which give more clearance on that side.

I have a 2010 WRX and have tried putting my stock wheels on the Legacy.
It sits on the spring perches (mostly the front), as you can see in this pic (225/45/17):

Car has never been hit, but has had the suspension replaced, but not sure with what (should have been stock replacement).

My 2006 WRX wheels fit perfectly though (215/45/17):

i have not seen or heard any rubbing in the rear its a wagon..i only head the humming in the front im considering just slapping some 215/45/17 so i dont have to deal with any unforeseen circumstances..ive heard of people running them untill a bit of the tire wears down and it no longer rubs but i dont see me taking that risk

I don't blame you on the risk factor. there's no point to ruining good tires. Get some 215s and sell those 225s.
